5.0 out of 5 stars The first book for livestock owners, July 7, 2007

This review is from: Quality Pasture: How to Create It, Manage It & Profit from It (Paperback)
Today more than ever livestock producers need to be looking at raising their animals on grass instead of grain. With corn prices going up because of the ethanol plants you have no choice but look for better options and grass was a better choice before corn started going up.

Allan Nation is the king of "Grass Fed" movement in the US. While one book is not large enough to tell you everything about moving your farm to a grass fed operation this gives you enough information to get started.

This book shows you both the "how to" and "how much will it cost" aspect of the grass biz. It also gives you a number of different new business opportunities.

My brother gave me this book and it gathered dust for two years. The only complaint that I have (Other than I was dumb for being pi headed and waiting two years to read it) is that he spends a lot of time showing you how you can feed dairy cows on a grass only operation. I realize that he was making the point that if a dairy can make it then sheep, goats, and commercial cattle will have "no problem".

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Pasture, November 15, 2011

This review is from: Quality Pasture: How to Create It, Manage It & Profit from It (Paperback)
Very informative, gives information that you may not be aware of. The more information on pasture management you can read, the longer you can pasture cattle even during the lean times.
