I didn't notice before I bought this cover that the tab snaps close on the back instead of the front. It's a minor thing that annoys me. Other than that it's just what I was looking for and much cheaper than the others.

After spending a lot of time exploring options for keeping my new Amazon Kindle 2 safe at a reasonable price, I selected this item. I read all of the reviews and was prepared for the "synthetic" smell that accompanied my purchase upon arrival. What no one mentioned is that this item just looks cheap and poorly made. The inside lining is all bubbled, as though the two layer of material did not adhere to the glue that was used to put it together.

Plusses: Easy to get Kindle in place and it does stay nice and secure.
The snap closure may appear to be on backwards, but the thought that went into this was smart - when you fold the cover back, that closure does not get in your way.

Overall, I can't complain too much because it wasn't a ridiculously expensive item and is doing the job. Do I think it will hold up for the long term? Not so sure - quite happy I purchased a special case that holds it all from a store on [...]

I chose this cover because it was the cheapest one offered on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it. It is simple and elegant, and I like the fact that it snaps shut so that it won't open up in my purse (which is what I was afraid would happen with the one made by Amazon).
I also did not want a case that would "hook into" my kindle; this one holds it in place securely on all corners with 2 leather straps, and 2 elastic ones. There is even a little pocket on the inside to keep stray receipts and my grocery list, as well as a place to keep my pen. I bought a small book light at a local store for $3.99, and it clips into place beautifully between my kindle and the back cover. It feels wonderful in my hands. What a great value!

This is exactly what I wanted after shopping around relentlessly for the right case. The cover folds behind so you can still hold your kindle but it is also protected when covered. No complaints thus far, and itss definitely better priced than the other covers you'll see out there. Also, it looks chic with the black exterior and materials that look expensive but aren't. Won't take my kindle out of it, totally recommend it.

This is a great Kindle accessory, this cover does not have the Kindle damaging Hinge, also it has 2 stretchable elastic loops on inner side and 2 faux leather loops on the outer end. All the function / buttons of Kindle are accessible with cover on, there is no need to remove cover for charging.

Also this is a Faux leather however the look and feel is really great. Only complain I have is that it smells, however I have had it for a few days and observed that it is slowly going away.

This is the best cover you can buy, save money from expensive covers and buy books with that money, that is what Kindle is for. I would not spend $40 on Kindle cover, instead buy 4 bestsellers from Amazon for that money.

The Kindle did not stay put. It kept falling out. The snap closure is backward. I ended up purchasing another cover.

This cover does not fit the latest version of the Kindle -- it's too big. This was not clear from the advertisement and product description.

For some reason they sent me another model of the product, a really bad one 'cause it opens like a medical carpet and not like a book :(, and I live outside US so it's really expensive to change the product...

This is a fine basic case with no metal hooks (The hooks that go into the side of the kindle 2)

Yes, there is a smell, like many other new items made out of plastic. It goes away. The case was not as malleable as I had hoped and the snap was getting in the way. I clipped off the snap and the inside pocket and the pen holder to get down to just the folder. It will lay flat face down, and is starting to lay flat face forward. Should be fine when it is broken in completely. I read too many cracked kindle stories with the standard metal hook style case so I went with this one and also bought a foam net book case with carrying handle for carrying around. I like what I ended up with for the price I paid. I use the kindle in this case all the time and then stick the case and all in the net book padded brief when I go somewhere.

This case more than met my expectations. It is a good compromise between lightness and thinness on the one hand and sufficient protection and comfort on the lap on the other.
