Great Album, July 3, 2004
This review is from: Quand L'Humain Danse (Audio CD)
Ignore the official blurb you read above; she's Belgian, not French. Maurane comes from the Ixelles neighborhood of Brussels, where her parents were music professors. She is a highly talented singer in many styles, songwriter, and pianist. Her original name is Claudine Luypaerts, and she's exactly two weeks older than me.
This collection of songs is a good follow-up to her last album, Toi du Monde, which went a little more into ethnomusical, or "World Music" sounds than she had gone into before. But like all her albums, this is an entertaining yet substantial grouping of pop, swing, and modern sounds.
But my favorite Maurane CD is still L'un Pour L'autre...
