5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Followup To Quanta, July 17, 1999
This review is from: Quanta Live (Audio CD)
Just when you thought "Quanta" was one of the best Brazilian albums of the '90s, along comes this live version of that work. Superb. I also recommend "Parabolicamara" and -- for background on Gil and Brazilian music -- the book "The Brazilian Sound," which is published in English.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~~~~~~~~ 10 Stars ~~~~~~~~~, October 12, 2005

This album is not only a great follow-up to Quanta, but also a great live rendition to some of his gems from different albums like songs: Refavela, Palco, Copacabana; etc. etc.
Here we have a great spectrum of what this amazing musician can play; Samba, MPB, Brazilian Jazz, Reggae, etc. Music with a high quality standard regardless to his age.
Finally, check some of his famous guests for this amazing tour/CD.:
1.) Celso Fonseca on guitars (a great soloist and ex-Caetano's band member).
2.) Arturzinho Maia on bass (a member of Brazilian Jazz Group Cama de Gato).
3.) Raulzinho Mascarenhas on sax and flutes (also another brilliant soloist), and ...
4.) Paulinho Calasans on keyboards (a Djavan's band member in several ocassions).
Pick it up while it lasts............

Highly recommended must-have to add to your Brazilian collection. After I attended the awesome Quanta Live concert here in Washington DC, I had to look for the CD considering, I danced from the first to the last song performed that night. I ordered it online and was excited that all the songs performed during the concert was on this CD. I never leave home without it. I now know all the words to the songs (that's the only portuguese I speak). I've turned my friends to it too and they love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A musical flight from earth to space with internet stop !!, March 2, 1999

Gil gives us an oportunitty to fly from a mixed rithyms with his brasilian sensibility that only him knows how to do it so well and leaves us into another dimension of new age era.In this way his make us to stop and reflict that we are all together by "Internet" remembering an old samba of another great brasilian composer Noel Rosa (Pelo telefone). This album is really a trip to whom want to know how beatiful and pure Gil is and how far his think and mind are from us.

This review is from: Quanta Live (Audio CD)
está re bueno, mejor que el "eletracustico" (que tambien es un disco bueno).
Gilberto se canta todo apesar de la edad, y tiene mucha energia.
cuando tenga 60 quiero ser como él, con tanta energia en el escenario

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a Grammy!, April 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Quanta Live (Audio CD)
Gil has been around since the 1960s as a popular music star in Brasil and is getting better known in the US all the time. I discovered while reading the album notes that I actually had attended one of the live concerts in Rio that the album was mixed from. Gil is a mature musician and excellent song-writer with a top-notch, really world-class back-up group of musicians on this album. I was blown away by the professionalism and showmanship they demonstrated in that theatre in Rio back in 1997. If it weren't in Portuguese, this album could easily compete with any professionally-produced album in the US.
