Still Good After All These Years,
By Love a good book (Meridian, ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Quantity of a Hazelnut (Paperback)
I own and have read the Hallmark Book edition of this book (A Search for Joy) many, many times. So many quotes that have stuck with me over the years and formed my thinking. I hesitate to put them down by memory but will try with a couple. After telling the story of a neurotic saint, Ms. Malania concludes: God gives to each person . . . the capacity to become a saint. That is to fill his vessel full of holiness here in this life no matter what sort of odd size or shape that vessel may be. I love this line too: If God had created the universe and then gone off and left it, the universe would have been hopelessly snarled five minutes after creation--as every housewife knows!
She has a unique way of combining the routine with the sublime in ways that cause you to smile--and think. |
