Don't waste your money on this dud.
Stephen D. Greaney
I liked the retro look of this radio/player, however the cassette never did work but I kept it because I let too much time lapse in returning it.

I just wanted a simple little recorder with all the bells and whistles.

This radio turned me off Quantum FX for good. As another review of another of their boomboxes said, the radio works like a toy. Reception is terrible on all bands. Also the mp3 player didn't work in mine. Don't waste your money on this dud. The company cares more about making a cool looking radio, than it does about the quality of the product itself.

Got the radio today. Its a little over a foot long and about 7 inches high. Compared to the old school boomboxes its about half the size.

The boombox is actually built a little bit better than traditional boomboxes like lasonic. Ths sd card works great and the usb plays flash drives. I tried to hook up the ipod to it but it doesn't work.

The cassette player works good and the buttons for it are pretty solid.

The radio has am/fm and shortwave. All work.

The radio comes with a cord for home use also has a headphone jack and a 6volt in jack

The radio may claim its 500w but no radio is ever that loud.

The radio sounds decent and is actually very loud for something so small. I was quite impressed.

There is a volume level next to the power button. This doesn't light up but I think it is meant for show.

( I was offered an exchange but I kept it )

Want a cool toy for under $40 grab this. There are no other boomboxes on the market like this .

It has two speakers and it looks like it would have stereo sound, but it doesn't. Every function is MONO ONLY. Even the cassette head is 1/2 track (mono).

The tuner works quite a bit better than most Quantum FX products, and the tape and sd/usb player work as they should....just in mono. The microphone is a bit insensitive.

MP3 navigation is jump to the next or previous track only. It will not scan through a track. It does remember the last track played, thought it starts at the beginning of that track.

All in all I'd have to say it's alright for the price, but I do wish it was stereophonic.

I bought this hoping to use the USB connection to download cassettes to my computer. I am not sure if this connection was meant to allow cassette recording from the computer (for which I have no use), but none of my programs recognize an input from this radio, cassette recorder/player to my computer. I would have appreciated some instructions (any), but particularly dealing with the USB port. Seems utilitarian for the main purposes for which it was built, but does not meet my need for transferring music from cassettes to my computer.

Received the unit, small but powerful sound. The unit is cheap built but what do you expect for a SW radio under $40.00. I purchased the radio for camping and the mp3 and cassette features. SW is okay, not like the expensive SW radios but works. FM good, AM picks up weak stations I listen too. If you want a mini boom box that is functional this is it.
