Catalyst PTs Inshore spinning reels were completely redisigned for 2009. The biggest improvement comes in the weight of the reel. The CI20PTsB weighs only 10.4oz, and has a line capacity of 140 yards of 6lb. monofilament. The weight reduction comes in improvements to the reel body, the line management system and rotor design. Also improved from earlier generations is the TiMAG titanium bail with magnetic trip and LMS (Line Managagement System). The bail system continues to be guaranteed for the life of the reel. The Catalyst Inshore spinning reels contain 9 ultra-smooth, polymer stainless hybrid bearings and extra-hard Performance Tuned gears. One thing that stayed the same in this series of reel is the stacked ceramic front-adjustable drag system, if it isn't broken, don't fix it! This reel is finished off with a durable Saltguard 6 layer corrosion protection.

I bought this reel about a year ago and have used it extensively in the Florida Keys. With 20lb braid, the reel has caught permit, kingfish, mahi, sailfish and a huge variety of snapper and grouper with no problems at all. Overall the reel has stood up to tests well beyond what is probably recommended. The only maintenance I've done is regular washing after use and I have yet to open the reel up. Also unlike many reels, the finish has not worn, faded or rubbed off.
