3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as I'd hoped, or was led to believe by reviews, August 29, 2001
This review is from: Quantum Leap 00: The Novel (Paperback)
It's just your average piece of mind candy fluff novel. Nothing great about and it is actually disappointing to a QL faithful like myself.
Okay, I haven't finished it yet. I'm only halfway through but already there are mistakes and it makes me wonder if the author watched the show or not.
So far no mention of Donna at all. Also, the book says that Al's girlfriend, Tina, has the 2nd highest IQ in the place and she keeps up Ziggy's maintenance. Well, at the end of the show Sam put Beth and Al back together which would make Tina nonexistant (most likely) on the project.
Also, the author bases much of the 'suspense' on fixing whatever it is Sam must fix or he will be stuck. The TV show has pointed out on a few occasions that success has no bearing on a leap. Sam will leap no matter what, and we all know that technically Sam controls the leaps. There are other mistakes that I won't go into, but I have to say that as an intense lover of QL, Sam Becket, Al, et. al. I was seriously missing the show and I've seen the repeats countless times and I was searching for something new. I took a leap of faith and bought 5 of these QL books and now I'm thinking I should have just kept searching for something else.
I could have written it better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Barely a four, March 6, 2001

I like Quantum Leap and thought that it was awesome when I foud out there was a book series. Truthfully I thought this book was awesome... except that Ashley McConnell didn't understand some of the concepts of leaping. Like when she says that Sam is in the carny's body. In the tv show they say that his body leaps with him but everyone except children sees only the other man(or woman's) aura. That's why when Sam was in the soldier's body without legs,in the show, he was able to still walk around but appeared to be floating.

This book is the perfect way to learn about Quantum Leap. If you love the show, you'll love the book even more. You find out how Sam and Al get to know each other. You find out about their backgrounds. And most of all, you find out how it all got started. It really helps you understand the show a lot more.
