This is the best quantum leap book,
By allison (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Prelude (Quantum Leap) (Paperback)
This book explains what happened BEFORE Sam's first leap. Except for a couple parts, this book is by far one of the better Quantum Leap books. I like it for explaining what the TV show did not explain. For example: Why does Sam have that white streak in his hair? It's good! Other Quantum Leap books really bore me but not this one! What they should do is make a Quantum Leap 2 TV show like Star Trek does, (by the way Scott Bakula is IN the next Star Trek show!) have it be about one of Al's daughters trying to find Sam. Hell, I could star in it! Or start making new books! Just some suggestions.

Great Quantum Leap Entry,
This review is from: Prelude (Quantum Leap) (Paperback)
This is a well written (McConnell did most of the better Quantum Leap books) entry in the series. It goes back and tells a version of how the Project may have started (since Sam changes so many little details every time, the events surrounding the Project's beginnings would always be changing, as the book states). It is good to see San and Al together in the Project here, one of the good things about the books is that we see more of the internal conflicts, with Verbeena, Donna, Al, and Gushie. I always wanted to see them developed more on the show, but the hour format didn't leave enough time. Anyway, this has been out of print for a while, but if you can find it it is worth the effort.

One of the best,
By Redhill "Redhill" (Eastern USA) - See all my reviews

First to make a correction - Amazon has incorrectly listed Ashley McConnel as the author when the it is actually Melanie Rawn who authored this book.
This has got to be one of the best, if not the best, QL book that was written. Ms. Rawn has a real grasp of the characters of Sam and Al. For me the real test of whether a novelization of a TV show has hit the money is if I can close my eyes and picture the actors speaking the words of dialogue in the book as the characters they portrayed. Ms. Rawn hits that dead on. While reading this I had no problem picturing Scott Bakula as Sam and Dean Stockwell as Al. This easily could have been an episode.

I've liked everthing this lady has written. Well, at least
I did until I read this book. Story is okay, but leaving
the body on the imiganing chamber floor was just a little
to much and I couldn't get past it to enjoy the rest of
the story.

Carny Knowledge; An ok book but not a good start to a Series,
By
This review is from: Quantum Leap: Carny Knowledge (Paperback)
This is the 1st novelised version of Quantum Leap in the Quantum Leap Series. Written by author, Ashley McConnell.
Sam leaps into Bob Watkins, a mildly disabled Carnival worker. Bob is often the butts of some of the fellow workers joke, but it is usually in good humour that Bob laughs along with. Al tells Sam that there is 97% chance that he is to delay the opening of the carnival's new ride, the "Killer Diller". If he doesn't, the ride will crash in 3 days killing onboard it and Bob will get the blame for causing the accident and will get sent to a mental institute where he will die within 10 years. Even though this is a good book, I would not rate it as one of Ashley McConnell's better Quantum Leap books. I do not believe that it lives up to the other books that she has written for the series. Although there were times where I was into the story, there were other times I was in a hurry to finish the chapter so that I could put the book down for a while. I also feel that this would of been a better 2nd or 3rd book in the series but as luck would have it this was the 1st novel released to start off the Quantum Leap Book Series.

This book is the most evil piece of dog doo doo to ever grace my hands.
Dog doo doo itself is more fun to read. The little moron that wrote it didn't bother
to keep ANYTHING consistent with Ql-series OR books, and it shows. Nothing was accurate and all the parts that
were even remotly accurate were crap. I want to burn this book for even being published(
who was the moron who did it anyway???) and clease the world of its evil. Quantum Leap is awesome, but if you are going
to read a QL book go for _Knights of the Morningstar_ instead. That one's cool.
