5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the read, even if not a fan of the show, June 24, 2008

Found this to be a very enjoyable book, read it, even though I wasn't a big fan of the show. Had a lot of good tense moments. Liked the fact that both Sam and Al were Leapers, and that they were not at the same site. I disagree with the previous review, the dream sequence did indeed have to do with the story, as it tied in with Kris' grandfather, He Who Sees, and the totem animal necklaces he gave to the group, the animals in the dream later show up in reality and help lead to the rescue site. Lots of good characterization, building on the friendship between Sam and Al, and just a good solid plot, with getting the estranged father and daughter back together in the end. Very satisfying and well written. Kudos to Melissa Crandall, another great book! (If you've not read her latest, "Darling Wendy, and Other Tales" -- I highly recommend it as well!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Quantum Leap: Search and Rescue, September 17, 2006

In this episode both Sam and Al Quantum Leap after a freak storm incident back at Project Quantum Leap. Unlike in the TV episode "The Leap Back", Sam did not turn home back to Donna. This time both Sam and Al were stuck in the past.

In this leap Al leaped into a man who was in a plane just about to crash into British Columbia and Sam leaped into Philip Payne a man who was part of the Search and Rescue mission to find survivors of Al's plane crash.

The most disappointing thing that stood out and took away from the book was the "Dream Chapter" It was one whole chapter in the book was dedicated to a dream that Sam had. This dream had absolutely nothing to do with the overall story of this novel. Frankly, it was a little strange too. This book had a lot of potential ( with Al also being Leaper ), none of which really took off.
