The Quantum Particle Internet [Paperback]

P. Stephen Petersen (Author)

Available from these sellers.

Book Description

June 13, 1997
Half of a hypothetical planet is on a world-wide web, the other half is not. The Reds try to understand the Blues (connected secretly) in terms of normal human behavior. They find that they behave like quantum particles. The Red Scientists eventually discover that the blues share information much as quantum Particles do. The story is a tongue-in-cheek allegory for the development of interpretations of quantum theory. Major players are Halbert Zweistein (Einstein), Stan Exciting (Neils Bohr), and Devon Baum (David Bohm)--the 'wizard of odds'.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Petersen has found that internet is a good scenario for his allegory. When we connect to the net we become part of a whole, in information term, whereas a quantum particle, when united to others, appears inseparable... A really interesting work, given its originality, that will attract both physics students and the occasional readers who like new viewpoints." -- Manuel Montes, The Science Book Board

"Whatta crackup! This book is the funniest :>) thing ever written on quantum theory. I had to chortle all the way through Dilbert space." -- Narada Moy, PhD, physics

From the Publisher

Don't miss a classic in the making. Dr. Petersen, physics professor, musician, and comic, gives us a work to stand alongside Plato's 'Allegory of the Cave' and a 'Funny Thing Happened on the Way To The Forum'. This is new-science with a funnybone.

More About the Author

Dr. Philip Petersen is currently a tenured professor of Astronomy and Physics at Solano College in California, having taught at Montana State University and Utah State University. Though Astrophysics was the emphasis of his PhD from UC San Diego in 1987, he has always had a passion for Quantum Theory and its interpretation.

This passion played out in a book published by Empyrean Quest Publishers in 1996: The Quantum Tai Chi--Gauge Theory: The Dance of Mind over Matter. It outlined a new quantum theory of karma and responsibility. The reviews were glowing, including Midwest Book Review, Analogue Science Fiction and Fact Magazine, and Maxwell Montez of the Science Book Board.

His online Cosmology text, Cosmic Acceleration: Hounding the White Whale of Cosmology was number one on Google under 'Cosmology Book' for several years, and still remains toward the top. His scientific writing captures the imagination and forces the reader to think out of the box of societal science.

His latest book, The Quantum Shield: Protecting Your Life from Negative Thoughts and Feelings, explores the analogy of consciousness to quantum entanglement. Staying in a state of joy shields us against the negative thoughts and feelings from others and our subconscious.
