Book Description

3540256458 978-3540256458 May 3, 2007 1

Scheck’s Quantum Physics presents a comprehensive introductory treatment, ideally suited for a two-semester course. Part One covers the basic principles and prime applications of quantum mechanics, from the uncertainty relations to many-body systems. Part Two introduces to relativistic quantum field theory and ranges from symmetries in quantum physics to electroweak interactions. Numerous worked-out examples as well as exercises, with solutions or hints, enables the book’s use as an accompanying text for courses, and also for independent study. For both parts, the necessary mathematical framework is treated in adequate form and detail. The book ends with appendices covering mathematical fundamentals and enrichment topics, plus selected biographical notes on pioneers of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory.

Editorial Reviews

Review

From the reviews:

"Scheck … includes sufficient material for two semesters of study at the advanced undergraduate level or graduate level. … The text is well written and laid out in a clear manner. … Sufficient guidance is given so that the work could be used for self study. An appendix gives problems, some of which have hints and solutions. … Overall, a very good work that this reviewer is considering as a course resource. Summing Up: Recommended. Upper-division undergraduates; graduate students." (E. Kincanon, CHOICE, Vol. 45 (2), 2007)

This review is from: Quantum Physics (Hardcover)
This is not a Dry book ,with formulas and personal point of view.
This is an encyclopedic book , aimed to explain every detail ina Quantum Physics class from the beginning to the end .
It has the courtesy of putting a lot of problems with their solutions!!! following other problems to be taken as a homework etc.
I keep Dr Sheck's side by side to Tajhannoidi,Landau and Griffiths.
