5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you!
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am not a scholar; I am a simple working Housewife/Mother. I like to think that I strive for what is good and try to do good at everything I do. I am, like possibly many others, always looking for "what more is out there". This review is from: Quantum Prodigal Son: Revisiting Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son from the Perspective of Quantum Mechanics (Paperback)
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am not a scholar; I am a simple working Housewife/Mother. I like to think that I strive for what is good and try to do good at everything I do. I am, like possibly many others, always looking for "what more is out there". This book is, "More of what's out there". With the knowledge I have recieved from "Quantum Prodigal Son" I hope to be a better person then I was before I read it and I feel that I am. It has brought more questions to mind and I feel that's what Heavenly Father wants me to be doing; ask more, learn more and to grow. I am very glad I have read it and I hope that there will be more as I feel there should be more! I leave you with this quote from the book on page 267: "Our Father wants us to return as quickly as possible and has no need or desire to make our return difficult; if it is, we must take responsibility for that thought". I say these things in the name of our Heavenly Father and beleive this book to be a true spirited book that can only bring enlightened thoughts and a loving heart with peace of mind in the end. I thank you for writting this book for all of us who want the chance to grow. You have helped me grow and I thank you!

Using the principles of quantum theory, the authors try to present a "Christian" view but the book is not based on Christian theology...although there are interesting concepts and current quantum principles incorporated, the book theorizes that there is no Evil and all is an illusion; hence, defying the very basis of Christianity and Jesus' crucifiction. No evil, no need for Christ, no redemption. I see the problem of evil very real, not an illusion and I believe in a Creator that is Holy and there is much more involved even at the quantum level that is demanded from all creatures. I question every concept and spiritual value in the Bible and I consider myself to be open to various interpretations but this book doesn't satisfy or make sense to me on any level.

This review is from: Quantum Prodigal Son: Revisiting Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son from the Perspective of Quantum Mechanics (Paperback)
I liked the title of this book. At the time I was hoping to get some information about how God was in everything... as defined from a scientific point of of view. I was hoping to be inspired by that knowledge. (Without the help of this book I now know that everything...all that is.. IS God...regardless of whether science or anybody else knows or believes it to be true.)

I think maybe the authors of this book were looking for the same. However, being that the both of them were suicidally depressed before taking on their project...their final interpretation... seemed to me... to be to "find your way back to God" as did the Prodigal son... or, since that is your ultimate reason... then there is no reason for your life.

(Which makes NO SENSE AT ALL!! Why would we as God create our human selves just to find our way back??? Oh yeah wait..."We're not worthy, we're not worthy." NOTHING could be more senseless and further from the TRUTH!)

And hey there's nothing wrong with people being depressed, who hasn't been a little, and it is that feeling that compels one to search for truth.... but a truth that gives one a reason to be inspired to LIVE... not to give up on it. Now.. hear this...they weren't saying "surrender TO life" they were saying "surrender your life."

I've never done this with a book before, as I can usually find a smidge of enlightening information in most non-fiction books, but I actually threw this book in the trash, it disgusted me so.

5.0 out of 5 stars A revelation!, June 10, 2009

This review is from: Quantum Prodigal Son: Revisiting Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son from the Perspective of Quantum Mechanics (Paperback)
As a life-long Christian I had read the parable of the prodigal son numerous times and always thought it was a nice story about the forgiveness of a father for his son. I never thought of it as an analogy of God's relationship to man. I never noticed the significance of the younger son "coming to himself" and the father ignoring his attempt to apologize, nor did I see the self-serving need of the older son who found his identity living under the law. It was a revelation to see that there was never any need for forgiveness. No matter what they did, neither son ever existed outside the will of their father - nor do we. It may be that the emerging awareness of a quantum reality is helping to open our eyes to the understanding Jesus might have intended.

It's going to take some time before enough Western eyes are opened to this new understanding and may be difficult for some fundamentalist believers. But this book represents a brilliant interpretation of an age-old story and needs to be read by anyone who hopes Jesus can still be relevant in the age of science.

Highly recommended.
