4.0 out of 5 stars Works naturally, but not as long as advertised
I'd say that this spray works around the lower limit of the advertised claim (4-8 hours, at least for me). I was glad to find something natural, as this product is essentially all plant oils. For those interested, the ingredients are:

3.0 out of 5 stars Buzz away smell away
Liked this product and it seems to work in keeping mosquitos away. The only drawback is the smell. I am hoping to get use to it as I hate spraying on chemicals but
mosquitos love me so I have to do something. I will keep using Buzz Away. Fair price as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works naturally, but not as long as advertised, June 16, 2010
I'd say that this spray works around the lower limit of the advertised claim (4-8 hours, at least for me). I was glad to find something natural, as this product is essentially all plant oils. For those interested, the ingredients are:

(active) soybean oil, geranium oil, castor oil, cedarwood oil, citronella oil, peppermint oil, lemongrass oil, (inactive) purified water, coconut oil, glycerin, lecithin, baking soda, citric acid, benzoic acid, wintergreen oil.

Most consumer products will not describe inert ingredients, so I'm especially thankful for the detailed analysis. That way I can be confident it is safe for use.

Overall, a good deal. Just remember to reapply about every four hours or so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works, April 25, 2011
I used this product on a recent camping trip along the Appalachian trail. I can see how some people won't like the smell, it's rather strong. I liked it though. It's kind of like a combination of cedar and sandlewood. Might be a little strong to wear if you're going to be indoors, but for a dirty stinky camping trip it's perfectly fine.

Did it work? Oh yeah! I applied it to myself and my clothing and proceeded into the bush. There were TONS of ticks there. I was finding them crawling on my pack and my tent every few minutes. We were brushing them off of each other's gear all day. In the end, I had not a single mosquito bite or tick. It was only 1 camping trip but I'd say it worked as well as DEET considering how bug-infested the place was. I'll definitely be using this again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Deet-Free Insect Repellent, July 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this spray after buying another brand of deet-free spray last summer. While the other brand worked fine, the smell was just atrocious and I couldn't stand smelling myself after a few minutes. This particular spray does have a stronger smell, but it seemed to fade (the smell, not it's potency) pretty quickly. The first time I used Buzz Away was at our local reservoir where I am normally ate alive by mosquito's. We were outside for about 2 hours on that visit, and I came home bite-free. This was a welcomed relief as the mosquito's tend to think that I'm their personal bite toy.

If you're concerned about putting deet on your body (as we all should be), I think this is definitely a great product to try. Keep in mind that the product won't last all day on your body (it will work for about 3-4 hours without reapplication), but I'm perfectly happy to reapply the product if I'm outside all day to avoid putting any deet product on my skin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tick protection and safe for kids, June 2, 2011
I used Buzz Away Extreme while teaching a three-week field research course in the Long Island woods in the height of a bad tick season, sharing it with my mother and 2-year-old son who were tagging along. We used the spray on hats, cuffs, and exposed skin before leaving in the morning, and reapplied around lunchtime. By the end of the course, most students and professors had been bitten by ticks, and three had to be treated for Lyme disease. We were three of only five who were not bitten, even though many of the others were using DEET-based insect repellents. We also escaped without any noticeable mosquito bites. Because ours was effective, and a low-toxicity formula, I didn't mind using it regularly, whereas many of those using DEET-based repellents were hesitant to use it more than necessary. I did make sure my son washed his hands just after application. The spray has a strong odor of geraniol, citronella, and mint, but it isn't unpleasant. I plan to keep using it when bug repellant is needed, but I have noticed that it can be hard to find by midsummer, so I plan to stock up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a second - lasts hours, October 10, 2007
Quantum Buzz Away is a great hand spray to have handy by your grill or anywhere where you are out doors and there might be bugs. I keep mine by the grill. Whenever there are bugs about I spray a little on my clothes and have gotten far fewer bites.

Convenient and quick. It seems to last too.

5.0 out of 5 stars best yet, January 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been using this product for over 3 years. I needed something that I could put on my daughter's skin without being worried about the dangers of DEET. (deet should only be used on clothing NOT applied to the skin). In the Texas summer heat there is no way to wear pants and long sleeves. This stuff works on all kinds of biting insects and is safer then DEET. I also use it while gardening and it keeps away the flies and mosquitoes. I do need to re-apply after about 4 hours. I have also used the regular (great on mosquitoes but less effective on flies than "extreme").

2.0 out of 5 stars stank, October 8, 2011

I so wish this product would not have STANK! We brought it with us to an event, and sprayed everyone down because it's all we brought. Oh, my goodness!!! It was horrid. Like rotten, weird food. Not sure if we had a bad bottle...or what!

4.0 out of 5 stars J Review, June 21, 2011

This product is very concentrated. I've often been bite free after using it. I chose this one because of it's natural ingredients. Just don't miss a spot.

This review is from: Quantum Research Buzzaway Extreme Spray (Health and Beauty)
I've tried every non-chemical bug spray on the market for me, my dogs, and my son. This is the only one that works for a long period of time (I've tested it for 4 hours so far). Unlike the other reviewer, I like the smell.
