5.0 out of 5 stars The quintessential educational tool!, June 21, 2001
This review is from: Quantum Teaching: Orchestrating Student Success (Paperback)
I read this book in two sittings! Quantum Teaching gives you the impetus to implement everything you've not yet mustered the courage to try - and every reason to believe you'll be successful. Included are simple phrases to encourage better communication between teacher and student as well as strategies to promote a more positive classroom atmosphere. Everything in this book can be applied to any classroom at any level. This is not just a teaching reference; it is a teaching essential.

This book covers everything that teachers can always improve on. It covers from how to use the student's body to help them learn to how the classroom should look like! When put together in practice, it makes for a fun and challenging classroom that pushes both students and teachers to learn more. A great book.

I have learned more in the first 3 chapters of this book than in over 15 years of teaching religious ed. I so wish someone would have provided this type of insight into learning a long time ago. Context is as/more important than content and that alone explains 90% of our failure to get through to kids.

I carry this book w/ wherever I go so, excuse me while I go review chapter 4.

I have this book on my desk again, reviewing key points as I prep for the first week of school, which starts tomorrow. This book, I believe, has contributed to my students' motivation, learning, and teamwork more than any other I've come across in 20 years of teaching and a PhD in Education...and I am still learning and applying more of the concepts contained here. Buy it. Use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Common sense advice wrapped in cheese, December 5, 2010
This review is from: Quantum Teaching: Orchestrating Student Success (Paperback)
This book has some good teaching tips and advice. It offers a prepackaged teaching philosophy that favors multiple sensory methods. If you want a more comprehensive list of ideals to shop from when defining your philosophy of education then I would look to other books. Be forewarned that this book is crammed full of cheesy inspirational dingle-whop-its that can get to be really annoying. Also, if you're into math or physics you're going to abhor the abuse of the word/idea of quantum. Be prepared to weep bitterly when you read her explanation that it is a near perfect synonym for synergy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for teachers to have!, August 2, 2010

This review is from: Quantum Teaching: Orchestrating Student Success (Paperback)
This is a great book to have. I am starting my 12th year teaching, and I wish I would have seen this book sooner. Try to be open minded when considering the principles the book suggests. From experiences this past school year, I can verify that the strategies work.
