The album grabs hold of you and shakes you violently. Please do not play this album in front of young children-- outbreaks of SIDS are known to occur. Each song has its way with you and leaves you bruised and battered (much like singers Mike Guilloteen and Shawn Guilloteen after a show), but before you know it the next song has already begun, and you're under attack again. But like some masochist, you keep coming back for more. This song has everything I ever wished for in a Guillo-album. Mike and Shawn singing on the same track? Check. A song actually longer than 5 minutes? Check. A song dedicated to me? Okay, so not EVERYTHING I ever wished for. But close enough. How the Guillos will ever top this piece of majesty is uncertain. Rumor has it they put a wirty dord in the title just so they wouldn't have to become worldwide superstars with international acclaim, which would have happened if your average plebian music officionado could pick this album up at his local retail store. Instead, it's like a hidden gem you have to search out. And how good it is will just have to be your secret and mine. And SPIN magazine's, who gave it 3 1/2 stars in the Dec 2007 issue.Album of the year? You be the judge. |
