First of all, watch the youtube video by "nutnfancy", he does an outstanding and detailed review of this light. At first, like most people, I was a little hesitant to pay that much money for a flashlight. I tried the streamlight stylus pro first,Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black LED Pen Flashlight with Holster, and that is an awesome light, I bought two of them, but the preon 2 is in a different category. It has the three different modes, so you can use the very dim mode to search for something under a car seat for example. But you can also get 160 lumens out of the same light! That is outstanding for its size. This light is now my EDC light, if fits nicely in my pocket, and when I just need a basic flash light its there, but if I really need a bright light I got it, and in an emergency it can be used to find your way to a larger light that will have a longer battery life.

I've had this light for a little over a month and carry it daily. I still love it and will be buying for all my friends as birthdays occur. Although I love it there are things I'd love to change. Here are the Pros/Cons

Pros:
1. Versatility- 3 brightness settings and 6 modes (Including strobe) make this light do nearly any EDC task you require. You can read a map w/out alerting the neighborhood or illuminate your car as you're walking up to it at night in an iffy part of town. Will talk about strobe more in cons.

2. Size/weight- I bought this to replace a bulky (but still awesome) Coleman Max 110 lumen. Trying to carry/deploy that thing was often hard and it definitely was too heavy for pocket carry (Now relegated to GF's purse). The Preon is amazingly light and small. No prob to stap on w/all the rest of my EDC and go anywhere.

3. Price- It surprises me that people think $50 is a lot to pay, but the fact that it does the job of a penlight and a "semi-defensive" light really makes it well worth it.

Cons:

1. Deployment- It likes to turn itself on from a front-pants-pocket carry position. I know that people are ordering the flat tail cap to solve that problem and I do like that the Preon has a twist option but it still slows down my deployment. If I'm in a less-likely deployment scenario, I just twist it off and twist back before I use the tail cap. For "defensive" (Strobe) use, this slows down deployment as it adds an extra step. If you are shirt or jacket pocket carrying, however, this should not be a problem.

2. UI- This light could be much better for "defensive" use with a few UI improvements. To get to the "Disorienting Strobe", it seems to take forever to click through the 3 levels twice. I'd like to see that be the 1st click (or even the 4th) instead of the 7th. Even better would be a bezel-twist setting that allows for High->Strobe like larger flashlights do (but at this size, the engineering might be too hard/costly).

3. Durability- I have the black/stainless model and scuffing can occur if you carry it next to a knife in the same front pocket (Read: It has). It's rated for a 1 meter fall and I would not even want to try that. Do not abuse this light like you would a larger light.

4. Battery life- not really a con but it will blow through batteries, and dim-out quickly in the process. It just isn't realistic to expect otherwise, though, as it's 2 AAAs putting out 160 OTF lumens.

Overall, this light is like the "Swiss Army Knife" of lights. Not the best in any category, but amazing for its compact versatility. Like I said, all my friends will be getting them and for EDC, I think everyone should have one.

P.S.- Free 2 day shipping w/ Amazon Prime ROCKS!

I could'nt be happier with this light. The reviews on youtube were very helpful (Nutnfancy) in helping me decide which light to go with. The online videos just dont do it enough justice, this little guy lights up my neighbors yards no problem. I was so impressed that I bought 2 more for my dad and uncle. They got them for Christmas and are carrying them everywhere they go, as am I. Wich brings me to the second cool feature, mobility. This guy clips right in the pocket so well you will forget your carrying it aroung at all, until its needed. This guy is perfect for an every day carry item, It has twice the lumen output of a D-cell led Maglight. So why not carry it with you. Just be shure to order from Amazon, I ordered my first one direct from 4-sevens, and I paid about $15 extra with no extra features/warranty. The only negative comment I have is that if the retention screw is to tight it affects how well your click button works, so you may have to loosen it up and sacrifice some water-proofness if you want the light to turn on on the first click, But IMO the light's pros vastly outweigh its cons. These manufacturers are always changing their led's and designs so dont wait to long to pull the trigger on this quality piece of lighting technology.

This shirt pocket sizes LED is awesome. The medium light output is used the most. you will find High to be quite bright for a pocket torch, but it is nice to have. Yes it is worth the cost. You will probably be the only one with this light on the job site. Your co-workers will want to borrow it so keep it quiet in regards to having this flashlight unless you want to show off,you will be able to do so. Get it NOW and enjoy.

This is a replacement for one that I lost during hunting season and I was disappointed with the operation of the switch. It doesn't come on when the button is pressed the first time and has to be clicked two to three times to function properly.
