Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This year's v.5 release of QuarkXPress, the premier page layout software, should spur demand for titles covering new features such as web design tools, table and layer functionality, and XML export. The first, busy chapter on basics will be somewhat overwhelming to the first-time user, but later chapters regain focus and provide straightforward step-by-step instructions on using each feature. Quick references to topics explained in other chapters help readers find information as needed, and appendixes cover special characters and keyboard shortcuts. Larger public libraries should consider.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't recommend it for first time users, March 30, 2003
This review is from: QuarkXPress 5 for Windows & Macintosh (Paperback)
I took an online course which required this book. It was a frustrating experience. There were times when I attempted the instructions and couldn't achieve the results. Rather than buying this, I seriously recommend taking an in class course or perhaps a Quark for Dummies book. Perhaps a little more experience will make this book easier to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, cool program/software, April 6, 2003
This review is from: QuarkXPress 5 for Windows & Macintosh (Paperback)
This is a good book to learn QuarkXpress. Keyboard shortcuts are a big must and there in there. It's easy to follow; I finished it in 3-4 days. It's not as fun as Photoshop, but after reading this book QuarkXpress is a cool program once you put it to use. It cover's all the topics well, however I do feel there needs to be more information on the trapping capabilities of Quark, other than that its gold. Its helpful to have access to the software as you read, so you can practice and make that sucker sing! ;)

By A Customer
This review is from: QuarkXPress 5 for Windows & Macintosh (Paperback)
This book is worded for those who already have some experience with quarkxpress. It has a lot of information but when you are just starting you also need practical exercises to get a full understanding.
