Wouldn't recommend it for first time users,

I took an online course which required this book. It was a frustrating experience. There were times when I attempted the instructions and couldn't achieve the results. Rather than buying this, I seriously recommend taking an in class course or perhaps a Quark for Dummies book. Perhaps a little more experience will make this book easier to follow.

Good book, cool program/software,

This is a good book to learn QuarkXpress. Keyboard shortcuts are a big must and there in there. It's easy to follow; I finished it in 3-4 days. It's not as fun as Photoshop, but after reading this book QuarkXpress is a cool program once you put it to use. It cover's all the topics well, however I do feel there needs to be more information on the trapping capabilities of Quark, other than that its gold. Its helpful to have access to the software as you read, so you can practice and make that sucker sing! ;)

Not for Beginners,

This book is worded for those who already have some experience with quarkxpress. It has a lot of information but when you are just starting you also need practical exercises to get a full understanding.
