A Kid's Review
This review is from: Quarterback Princess [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like Helen Hunt, she is one of my favorite actresses I have seen several of the made for television movies that she had made when she was a kid and a teenager and The Quarterback Princess was one of my favorites and I would like to see this movie put on DVD! Okay, I don't think it's fair to jump to conclusions that Tammy and her family had anything to do with the changes in her story that the film makers made. They always take true stories and make changes and the story always comes out loosely based on the true stories so it may be possible that the Maidas didn't even know that the movie was going to not tell the full story and honestly I really I don't give a fig that the movie isn't 100% faithful to the actual story about Tammy! Not only do I think this movie should be on DVD but her other old made for television movies should be on DVD too, especially The inspirational movie The Miracle of Kathy Miller which is also a fact based movie!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great family video, September 12, 1999

This review is from: Quarterback Princess [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great family video for all ages. My kids watched it years ago on TV and have asked for it numerous times - you can't find it in video stores and it hasn't been on TV in the last 7 years.

3.0 out of 5 stars generally good., November 14, 1999

I wasn't old enough to catch this when it first aired, but Encore's True Stories channel recently covered the made for t.v. movie. Although it isn't of the best film quality, the moral is strong and universal: never listen to the flock, it tends to lead you astray. It's also interesting to see Helen Hunt in her pre-Mad About You days. However, when watching this true story about a teenage girl who longs to play football in a small town, don't expect modern Hollywood special effects or a deep philosophical script; what you expect from 1983 made-for-tv is exactly what you get.

5.0 out of 5 stars I *still* vividly remember this movie over 10 years later!, June 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Quarterback Princess [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this movie well over a decade ago, and was fortunate enough that my father taped it for me and my sister. Years later, my sister accidently taped over it and the family really misses it. Not just us girls either -- it's also one of my father's favorite movies! It is one of the best, most influential and most memorable movies that I have ever seen! A high school girl who was pretty but not gorgeous, had talent and courage, learned self-assertiveness, and showed maturity and growth. I have not seen the movie in a decade and I *still* remember it quite vividly. It's just a phenomenal movie that's worth seeing at least once. If I remember correctly, it's based on a true story. I wish I could describe the impact it had on me... the only word that keeps coming to mind is: WOW. If you can't buy it, at least watch it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great family film, October 4, 2005
This review is from: Quarterback Princess [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This film was fun for me as it was filmed at my High shcool. McMinnville High School in McMinnville Oregon. Many of the locals were not happy with the depiction of our townspeople. But hey, it's a movie. I enjoy the sites from around the town I grew up in and think the story is cool. It's fine movie for family entertainment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspired by a true story, but certainly not based on it, December 31, 2003

Having been in school with Tami at the time, I didn't really care for the movie, nor did anyone else I know for that matter. For the record, she faced no obstacles, her endeavor was supported by her classmates and the town, and she was QB for the freshman team. She was the freshman class' homecoming princess though, and she was a very sweet girl. After only 1 year in Philomath, her family moved back to Canada.
