Banjazz music.,
By David M (Vienna, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quartet (Audio CD)
This is the album that made me fall in love with Alison Brown's music. It is a wonderful fusion of jazz and bluegrass. A more accurate description is easy jazz played on a banjo. It is far from the real twangy sound you might usually assoicate with a banjo. The sound that comes from Ms. Browns fingertips is far more mellow and striking. The songs seem to get inside you and leave you sad and wanting more when they end.

A Heavenly Marriage of The Banjo and Contemporary Jazz,
By Ken2001 (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quartet (Audio CD)
For those of you who are looking for the perfect combination of contemporary jazz and the banjo, then you need to get this CD. Alison Brown and her band give a wonderful performance that is refreshingly upbeat. My only complaint of the CD is that its playing time could've been longer (than 36 minutes, 37 seconds). Still, this is a great CD to have.

WOW! Banjo/Piano/Jazz .... Who Would'a Thought?,
By Michael Keller (Longbeach, ny USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quartet (Audio CD)
After hearing a selection from this album on the radio.....I just had to get this album to see what all this was banjo music was all about.... Well, I'll tell you, that this babe can pick!!! Alison Brown and her group blend a sometimes jazzy feeling with piano and other instruments that is surprisingly, refreshing and different...........I loved it!!!!!........all the musicians on this CD really have it together.......Until now, I never heard of her.......Well if she hasn't been discovered by the masses it seems that it will only be a matter of time before someone brings her to the spotlight for everyone to enjoy......Bravo Alison...... I think you may have created a new genre of music...
