5.0 out of 5 stars Quality laser pointer
As an engineer I use laser pointers in work meetings all the time and I have had many break or die on me in meetings but this Apollo point is sturdy and has a very bright beam.

Great product for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after 2 uses
I bought this pointer because of the price. I used it once and it worked well, the second time was a month later and the batteries inside it were dead, but it worked upon changing them. 3 months later I needed it again and it is not working, I tested the new batteries I put in, which are fine, and nothing. This was not a good purchase.

This laser pointer emits a RED beam, not blue as the title indicates. It is referring to the barrel color. The product description is non-specific about the beam color which is odd as well. I specifically was wanting to purchase a blue laser pointer and got a red one instead. Now I get to go thru the hassle of trying to return it and pay for shipping both ways or cut my losses and keep a purchase that I do not want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Pet Tool, February 3, 2009

This is a very useful household tool around the pets.
I bought this laser pointer to help corral my cockatiel when they purch high up on the moulding. Cockatiel hate that bright red dot. Just shine it on the wall next to them, and they'll take flight.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great when new, but not built to last, January 13, 2012

I really loved this laser pointer when I first got it. I bought it to measure the height of trees in my yard using an inclinometer to measure the angle to the tops of the trees at night. The beam was easily visible on the tops of the branches of the 100' trees, so it worked really great. For a few weeks, that is. I put it back in the blister-pack container it came in for several weeks. Then, the next time I went to use it, it didn't work at all. I played around with wiggling the top and it didn't come on. Then I pushed the on button REALLY HARD, and it worked. But it was extremely difficult to hold the button down hard enough to make it stay on. (And I am not weak.) After a few more times using it, it stopped responding to any degree of button pushing, wiggling, etc. Completely dead. I replaced the batteries with brand new Duracells. No difference. So... while the technology for the light beam itself is really fantastic, this thing is not really built to last - at least mine wasn't. (And I had it in the case in a desk drawer, it was not abused in any way.)

By the way, for those who bought it thinking it shows a blue laser beam, I just have to laugh. The description says: "Projects a highly visible red dot up to 500 yards".
Granted the 500 yards probably means "at night", but that is a long distance, and I would say that they are probably not kidding. This thing was amazingly bright (when it was working), and easily visible on road signs and far away buildings at least several hundred yards away.

Although I probably got my money's worth out of it, because I needed it for a specific one-time purpose, I sure wish it was still working, because now I could use it again for something else, and so I am going to have to go buy another one.

3.0 out of 5 stars misunderstanding, April 27, 2010

My son was so excited to find a blue laser and asked me to buy this for him. When it arrived it was a red laser (standard) with a blue colored housing. I went back and looked at the description and it was sure hard to tell that it is the part that you hold that is blue and not the laser. We could have gotten a red laser pointer for about $7 so it was a disappointment for him. I have to admit on very careful examination it does not claim that the laser is blue. It doesn't say it's red either. A little misleading.

That is not I wanted...I wanted a BLUE LIGHT laser pointer, not the blue body.So it means the product image and information of the product is misleading!
