I'm a dinosaur at the state college where I teach. Power Point presentations in my classes consist of me powering the point of my dry-erase marker along the whiteboard. So I go through a lot of markers each semester.

I've been an Expo-marker user for years, from the days of the original Expo with the toxic solvent ketone to those now available with the low-odor alcohol solvent. And I buy my own because the college provides instructors with an inferior brand and, even at that, hands them out grudgingly. ("Oh, you need another marker already?" Like I'm using them for some nefarious purpose, like sniffing them maybe and then letting the ink dry out.)

But I digress. This is supposed to be all about these Quartet Enduraglide low-odor markers with chisel tips. They are as good as, maybe even better than, the low-odor Expos. This pack has assorted colors: 2 black, 2 royal blue, 2 red, 1 dark pink, 1 orange, 1 teal, 1 dark green, 1 light green, and 1 purple. Of these, the light green is pretty useless in the classroom because of visibility issues, so that one will be used by grandkids on their own little whiteboards.

Here's what's good about the Quartet markers:

1) They are wetter than the low-odor Expos and glide on more easily and seem to erase more easily. I've found that my colored Expo markers often leave color on the board after erasing, especially the red one. Both brands in black erase equally well.

2) Toss one of the Quartet markers on your desk after writing something on the board and they STAY there. The cap's shape prevents rolling. I can't begin to tell you how many Expo markers I've gone chasing after when doing the same thing.

These markers last longer and write better than expo markers. The colors show up well and erase better as well.

Classic problem: marker stops writing because you're writing high on a white board, so that the tip is the highest part of the marker.
Solution? 3 pressurized chambers to deliver consistent ink flow!

But wait - did the marker stop working because of gravity or because it's out of ink?
Solution? See-through ink gauge on the marker barrel so you know how much ink is left!

Now where did that marker go? Oh it rolled off the darn table.
Solution? An Anti-roll cap that keeps your marker where you left it!

Seriously, I jest with all the exclamation marks, but they really did make a better widget here. You'd think you couldn't do much to differentiate a dry-erase marker, but with these features - and steady bold colors - why would you go for "the usual"?

These are great.

As a teacher, I write on my whiteboard a lot. I honestly can't emphasize a lot enough. I tend to buy several markers each year and have them scattered all over the room. The EXPO markers that last the longest also smell the worst. It will give you a headache after writing for a few minutes. They also almost stain the whiteboard and are difficult to get completely clean without an additional cleaner for the board. While I enjoy the fruity scents, they are too expensive. So, this has led me to try many other markers. These are bright, vibrant markers with an ink gauge like you'd find in a pen. Thankfully, these are low odor. They are easier for me to write with for a longer period of time and I love having the many color options. Unfortunately, they run out quickly. If you were to use just one marker color (probably the black) consistently, then it will be out in a week. I've had this set for a little over a month and I've gone through both blacks, one red, one blue, and the purple. It's roughly the same price as a larger pack of EXPO markers, so it may be okay if I can get them at a discount at the beginning of the school year. Otherwise, I would rather spend my money on markers that last longer.

Great markers! They write very smoothly and the colors are gorgeous! I've been using them for a while and the colors look like the did the very first time. Better than expo by a mile!

These are great markers! The colors are vibrant and they show up beautifully on my classroom whiteboard. I probably wouldn't write exclusively in the lime green, as it is a bit too bright to read, but it is great for emphasis. Everything else looks fantastic.

The tip on the marker is perfect. It allows for bold or fine writing and it doesn't wear down or get frayed like the major brand whiteboard markers do, which means that you really can use these markers until they are completely dried up (which I found took a while. However, it should be noted that I don't use the same markers every day). The clear window will also give you an idea of the lifespan left in these markers.

I'd used some of the brighter colors before (teal, purple, pink), but I am convinced that these markers are the only way to go now! Pick up a pack -- you won't be disappointed.

Nice set of markers with some real pros and cons. Pros: These dry-erase markers come in beautiful colors, bright, bold ink and a generous pack of 12 markers for the price. The chisel tip is decently nice, writes well, ink flow is great! The cons: these dry-erase markers are difficult to erase, don't come off easily, the ink leaks, ebbs and flows strangely, and is sometimes much lighter in color than other markers available. This makes it harder to see. Personally, I love the idea here: the colors, the clear windows (so you can see when the ink runs low), the bright ink: all wonderful! It's the leakiness, the incosistency and the difficulty to erase that will make me stick to Expo markers for now or keep both around for a time and see who outlast the others: Expo markers have their own concerns, but overall I have found them to be more reliable to others.
