Very Pleasant Album!!!!!!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quartet (Audio CD)
This album reminds of the MJQ album, Concorde. They're quiet, but got good grooves. A drummer might not like this album, mainly because Connie Kay, just keeps time mainly with brushes on the cymbols, but a vibist would love this album! I first bought this one when I was a drummer where I would play along on the drums to the cd, but now that I picked up the vibes, I love any Milt Jackson album, fast or slow, loud or quiet! The first song, Wonder Why, was the first time I heard it. I fell in love with it. It's one of those rare ballads that are hardly used at all. This album has the MJQ lineup, minus pianist John Lewis. Horace Silver, takes his place here. You would think with the addition of blues master, Horace Silver, that it would be more "hip" so to speak, but Silver takes Lewis's place very well, and fits with the quiet, classic feel here.
