This review is from: The Queen Bee (Hardcover)
The Queen Bee is a picturebook version of the classic fairytale by the Brothers Grimm, about a young prince named Dimwit who must accomplish three impossible tasks to break the spell surrounding a mysterious castle. Yet the impossible becomes possible with the help of small creatures he rescued from torment. The impressive color illustrations by Iassen Ghiuselev are reminiscent of Renaissance style artwork and wonderfully enhance this amusing and magical fairy tale.

A lesser-known Grimm tale, beautifully and lushly illustrated.
The youngest of three brothers, called Dimwit, is mocked by his brothers for his weakness, yet because of his kind heart he is able to perform three impossible tasks and save all who are in the castle. A sort of Renaissance version of Aesop's "Androcles and the Lion." |
