Queen was a rock band that grew, matured, and changed with the times, from the early 1970's thru Freddie Mercury's final recorded vocals (Made In Heaven) in the 1990's.The video showcases the various styles and sounds in the 20+ years that Queen recorded and performed as a band. It covers the many t.v. interviews and performances, music videos, and concert tours. Plus, an intimate tribute to Freddie Mercury, who passed away in November, 1991, from the members of Queen, and many others who were in their own way touched or inspired by Freddie and Queen.

I love this video. It showed Queen from beginning to end (andbeyond) and is a must for anyone who's a fan. There are interviews, and info, and behind-the-scenes stuff...I love the video so much. It was sad in the end, but there were a lot of laughs too. I saw a side of Queen I had never seen before. Now I appreciate them a whole lot more than ever. I don't regret for a second that I bought this video. I watch it again and again. There's a lot of music, and a lot of talk. If you're a true Queen fan, I highly recommend this video. I own over a hundred videotapes with many movies, tv shows, documentaries, interviews, music videos...but Queen: Champions of the World is my absolute favourite of them all.

Of all Queen videos, this one gets the award. It covers almost all Queen material that exsists. This video shows complete interviews and songs while other shows cut them into clips. Buy this video if there is something you've been wondering about Queen.

I have all the cds so I know the music. Saw the band perform live more than once, so I know the stage show. This gives us something more. This video has great interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from all four band members and many other people who were affected by their music in any way. And that's why any true fan would be well advised to own this video. Excellent!

It's hard to do justice to one of the most popular bands of the 1970's in only 2 hours but they've done a wonderful job producing and editing the history of Queen. It features interviews with Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and even Freddie Mercury. The documentary is divided into different segments, including Queen's years before they formed. Smile was a band Brian and Roger were in with Tim Staffel (where the song "Doing Allright" was written) and Freddie had released a few singles under the psuedonym Larry Lurex. There's a special (and hilarious) section for the classic "Bohemian Rhapsody." Mike Myers gives a special "Thank you" for their blessings with the Wayne's World movie. The band discusses their video history (they had been making them regularly before the advent of MTV; the videos for "The Miracle" and "Innuendo" are discussed and Roger's comment about "These Are the Days of Our Lives" is quite poignant), their albums (Brian mentions that he wishes they had added all gotten credit on all songs prior to the Miracle), singles (Roger discusses "Breakthrough"), tours (touring Tokyo, Rio, Budapest and their legendary performance at Live Aid) and movies (Queen's music was featured in Flash Gordon, Highlander and Iron Eagle). You get insights into the individual members of the band (Brian appears to be introspective and honest, Roger appears to be jovial and cheerful, John appears even-handed and reserved, he bashfully admits he wishes he could sing and Freddie appeared charming and flamboyant, he knew how to handle obnoxious interviewers). Other rock stars share their feelings about Queen (John Entwistle, Axl Rose, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and Keith Richards). Finally, there's mention of the Concert for Life the year after Freddie's passing away and Made In Heaven. This is only available on VHS. Hopefully, a version of this on DVD is soon in the works.

This video is excellent. Everytime i watch it i am filled with joy, saddness, and the feeling that makes me want to have been there every moment with Queen. This video covers the basically everything Queen was involved in. Freddies death is covered very well, everytime I watch it tears come to my eyes. The music is great of course(because it is done by Queen), and personal interviews with each band member are in the tape too. If you don't own this tape then you are not a true Queen fan. Buy it, it is worth every penny.

True Champions!,

OK, this may take awhile so please bear with me. First off I would like to say that I totally agree with Zack that if you want to hear just Queen's music, break out an album! I myself wanted to see lots of interviews, which is what I got. It has a great many things to pick from. It has concert footage, interviews, behind the scenes footage, the making of some of Queen's videos, and scenes from the "Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert." Take your pick. When I ordered this tape I had no idea about what to expect, so I hope this may give you a bit of what to expect in it. I feel that the makers of this film did really well in terms of what came first and how to put it. They staged things well to make them funny or comical. They also made it very emotional, at least for me. I've probably cried every time I've watched it. So there's a star for editing! Well, again I hope I have been of some help. I'm a true Queen fan, so anyone who is like me will want this tape in their collection!

This is an interesting combination of all aspects of one of the greatest rock groups. The format is interesting in the way it groups the information into catagories, but I think a timeline format would have been less confusing and done more justice to the rise of Queen. This video does show us that Queen were a group of nice guys who loved music, were fantastically talented, and had an incredible synergy together.

This new documentary (running a little over 2 hours) begins with the pre-Queen band Smile right through to their last studio album "Made in Heaven".Plenty of rare footage abounds here plus recent interviews with Brian and Roger (John seemingly wishes to stay out of the spotlight.)Most of Queen's career highlights are featured here but the one thing I felt missing was a segement on their solo efforts. They could've at least set aside 15 minutes for it.Yes, Freddie's death was covered and predictably, brought tears to my eyes. It began with footage of the walls outside Freddie's estate in London. Mourning fans covered the walls entirely with their thoughts, the next morning's news reports, etc. Coupled with the instrumental "Forever", you couldn't help but be moved. It didn't stay downtrodden for long as the other band members recounted happy memories of Freddie and then we move right into the preparations for Freddie's tribute concert with many artists going on and on about the band.Plenty of laughs to be found as well. While Freddie was being interviewed in Brazil, the reporter asked him if he was the leader of the band to which he said no. She asked the same question again but in Portuguese, he gave a double take and firmly said "Yes! I AM the leader!" She also asked if he could give a small bit of what he was going to do later that night in concert to which he replied, "Are you mad? Well, come here, I'll show you a little something.." as he began to wrap his arms around her in a suggestive way. Hehe.A brilliant documentary and should be the first thing any new Queen fan buys (this and Queen's "Greatest Hits 1, 2 & 3" CD's.)

Excellent for die-hard Queen fans,

To me this was an excellent work, a tribute to the band and the life of Freddy Mercury, though I think more footage from the early years and less interviews would have been more interesting. Anyway, if you're a real Queen fan you'll enjoy very much watching 'behind the scenes' of some of their videos. If you want to listen/ watch a concert in video, then I'd recommend you to buy Live at Wimbley Stadium '86 or Live from Rio. Queen fans won't be disappointed. You'll have a glimpse of the life of Freddy, Brian, Roger and John as a group through this video.
