2007 release of a 4CD box set (LP size) devoted to the woman who married both Buck Owens and Merle Haggard (and divorced both as well) but had forged a singing career early on as Buck was coming up the Country circuit. Years after their marriage ended, she met Fuzzy Owen and cut some sides with him, including the duet "Just Between The Two Of Us". Later in the 60's when she met Haggard, Owen was both managing and mentoring him and suggested they both recut the song. The recording shot up the Country charts and Owen would also later marry Haggard. She would continue to record for Capitol and those tapes are anthologized on this set. Includes a 76 page hardcover book.

Wow Bear Family really saved the best for last this year. Fantastic set of mostly new-to-cd Bonnie Owens stuff. Bonnie was very underrated and hopefully this will set the record straight on how good she was. A shame she passed away before this was released. Bear Family just keeps doing amazing releases like this one,what would we do without them!?

I love traditional country music and this four CD album is loaded with traditional country music . Most of the songs were unfamiliar to me but this is why I liked it so much ;I was hearing songs that didn't make the airwaves but should have .Bonnie had such a traditional voice ; not overpowering , not super strong and sort of timid but honed by thousands of appearances with Buck Owens and Merle Haggard . I thoroughly enjoyed this set and if you are a diehard country music fan so will you.

My only question: Why did BEAR have to put Merle Haggard on the Cover w/ lovely Bonnie? I simply can't understand it! Just BONNIE PLEASE!
