Hanuting & Emotional,

This review is from: Queen Of The Damned: The Score Album (Audio CD)
Although many Anne Rice fans didn't care much for the movie, I myself enjoyed it. You must realize this isn't the book made itself. It is an adaptation of sorts - bits and pieces of 2 molded to make a stunning audio/visual experience. The music in this film is absolutely haunting. If you have ever read any of the Vampire Chronicles and created the characters and scenery in your mind then you undertand when I say haunting. The music takes you to a place you only imagined. You can almost feel the pain, lonliness and resentment in the music. It's as if you are transported to this nocturnal world in a way you never thought possible. The music is mysterious, exciting, relaxing and sensual all at the same time. A journey in itself worth every minute.

The score to "Queen of the Damned" is very dark and mournful, but the violin parts are fantastic, especially in "On the Beach" and the vocal album is just as good. The movie speaks for itself on how terrific it is and the music from "Interview with the Vampire" almost as good, though if you are more for classical music it is better. I also recomment the movie "Dracula" (The one directed by Francis Ford Copolla) and its soundtrack (the song "The Storm" is simply captivating!)

I thought this CD was excellently done. The music is creepy yet exhilarating. The violin was just the right touch.Although to be honest, I have both the score CD and the soundtrack CD. It would be hard to have one without the other. For instance, one of the songs from the score is a violin piece Lestat played, and the same piece is repeated at the beginning of "Slept so Long" on the soundtrack CD. Little details like that kept me interested in the score.
