5.0 out of 5 stars Hanuting & Emotional
Although many Anne Rice fans didn't care much for the movie, I myself enjoyed it. You must realize this isn't the book made itself. It is an adaptation of sorts - bits and pieces of 2 molded to make a stunning audio/visual experience. The music in this film is absolutely haunting. If you have ever read any of the Vampire Chronicles and created the characters and scenery...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hanuting & Emotional, November 8, 2005

Although many Anne Rice fans didn't care much for the movie, I myself enjoyed it. You must realize this isn't the book made itself. It is an adaptation of sorts - bits and pieces of 2 molded to make a stunning audio/visual experience. The music in this film is absolutely haunting. If you have ever read any of the Vampire Chronicles and created the characters and scenery in your mind then you undertand when I say haunting. The music takes you to a place you only imagined. You can almost feel the pain, lonliness and resentment in the music. It's as if you are transported to this nocturnal world in a way you never thought possible. The music is mysterious, exciting, relaxing and sensual all at the same time. A journey in itself worth every minute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Queen of the Damned, April 19, 2003
This review is from: Queen Of The Damned: The Score Album (Audio CD)
The score to "Queen of the Damned" is very dark and mournful, but the violin parts are fantastic, especially in "On the Beach" and the vocal album is just as good. The movie speaks for itself on how terrific it is and the music from "Interview with the Vampire" almost as good, though if you are more for classical music it is better. I also recomment the movie "Dracula" (The one directed by Francis Ford Copolla) and its soundtrack (the song "The Storm" is simply captivating!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Grab your Anne Rice novel and put this CD on, July 19, 2002

I thought this CD was excellently done. The music is creepy yet exhilarating. The violin was just the right touch.

Although to be honest, I have both the score CD and the soundtrack CD. It would be hard to have one without the other. For instance, one of the songs from the score is a violin piece Lestat played, and the same piece is repeated at the beginning of "Slept so Long" on the soundtrack CD. Little details like that kept me interested in the score.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Eerie, July 11, 2002

I have waited for this CD to come out for half a year and finally I have it. I don't mind the wait becasue this is an excellent score. My favorites would have to be the very chilling "Jesse's Dream", it reminds me somewhat of "Claudia's Allegro Agitato" from the Interview with the Vampire Soundtrack. The track fits perfectly with the scene. I think that "On the Beach" has become widely popular, the excellent piece with Shankar's double violin is truly great and his violin work on the fourth track "Secret Passage" is almost as good. Also I thoroughly enjoy "Air Lestat" and "The Queen is Dead" which is really haunting. Jonathan Davis and Richard Gibbs didn't go wrong with this album at all.

I guess the only problem I could have with this album is that instead of the full 20 tracks that were the score only the 10 best were selected for distribution. I would pay twice the amount if it meant having all the tracks. But I take what I can get.

Olga

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Queen Of The Damned: The Score Album (Audio CD)
Davis did a beautiful job crafting the lyrics and the musical accompaniment to more closelymatch the mood of the original books than the movie itself. The music can be eerily chilling or straightforward thrilling. In the movie, Davis did sing the lyrics himself. His record label forbid him to release an album with any other company, so he had guest singers sing his lyrics on the soundtrack and a different singer for the score.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written, beautifully executed, April 18, 2004
This review is from: Queen Of The Damned: The Score Album (Audio CD)
Overtly disappointed with the movie, the album score refuses to dissipate. This is a beautiful recording of original tracks that capture the essence of vampire lore and myth. I give every track of this brilliant recording five stars. The best being On The Beach, Secret Passage, and Air Lestat. I thoroughly enjoy this recording and listen to it quite frequently. I think it is haunting, magnificent, and fitting of vampire life. If you were disappointed with the movie, you shan't feel the same about the soundtrack.

I bought this CD after purchasing the Original Soundtrack. While I like them both, this CD is so wonderful to crank up on headphones and drift away in time to. Very well done, and would definatly recommend to a friend :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtracks, both are fing fantastic!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: Queen Of The Damned: The Score Album (Audio CD)
Let me say, Richard Gibbs and Jonathan Davis are rocking the music! I loved the fact that though i made myself not watch the movie for fear of getting obsessed for it about 3 days non stop, that when i listend to the score soundtrack, i could just picture the moments and scene, not bad for like i dunno 3 years not watching it?
Let me say, i never knew On The Beach was known. But i love the violins in Queen Of The Damned ESPECIALLY ON THE BEACH! i love the violins playing and playing and i kind of wish it was longer, kind of? i wanted it to last longer
The songs that pop out to me is Jesse's Dream and On The Beach. Then there is Air Lestat and Prodigal Sun that hold second places for standning out the most.
Since i don't have an ear for classical music or basically anything with heat and no singing, i don't listen to music intently so it all kind of drifts to the same thing. I love the music though i have to say, when the ominious chords of On The Beach start playing, i laugh like crazy.
Oh the violins are the best! i love On The Beach. i really hope that there are other branches of gothic music like this! Get this if you're in love with Queen Of The Damned soundtrack!!!
Richard Gibbs and Jonathan Davis has my blessings!
O yeah, favourite songs from this album is Jesse's Dream, the tinkling sounds from the instrutments i don't know are so beautiful and haunting. On The Beach, i forgot to mention this but the violins, i don't know..it sounds so romantic to me. :P

I absolutely loved it. The music has an eerie feel to it.Gothic, haunting, what more could you want? Jonathan Davis (Composer) and Richard Gibbs did an excellent job. The music fits in perfectly with the movie. I waited 3 months to order this CD and it was worth it. If you are a fan of Anne Rice's Vampire cronicles, or loved the movie Queen of the Damned, I reccomend you buy this CD.
