Editorial Reviews

Brought together in one boxed set, these three documentaries paint a vivid portrait of England's beloved monarch. Viewers look back to Queen Elizabeth's childhood and ascension to the throne; follow the Queen around the Royal household and through her everyday activities; and take part in one of England's most famous military ceremonies, held in the Queen's honor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful portrait of a dear Queen, July 8, 2000
This review is from: Queen Elizabeth II - 3 Portraits (Elizabet R/ From Princess To Queen/ The Queen's Birthday Parade) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am not a subject of Her Majesty, but I am a "fan." These videos are a delightful and interesting way to experience the life of the British sovereign. The first video gives a history of her early life and is very well done and accurate. For more details, of course, one should consult a biography. The next video is a year in the life of the queen and also very interesting. The footage seen would normally be unavailable to American viewers. The same can be said of the last video which has the Trooping of the Colour as its subject. One seems to fully participate in this celebration of the Queen's birthday. One exceptional characteristic is that the narration does not intrude or take away from the broadcast itself! I find this very rare. These videos are a "must have" for anyone interested in Queen Elizabeth II.
