Tom Tierney has obviously done a good deal of research in preparation for this book. The costumes are well selected and accurately colored and depicted.

I was disappointed on two scores. Firstly, the costumes aren't printed on card (only the doll is). Secondly, I think there should have been at least two dolls showing the queen at different stages of her life.

It's also odd that dolls of Sir Walter Raleigh and the Earl of Essex are included, but Elizabeth's closest friend (and greatest love), Robert Dudley, isn't.

I was really looking forward to receiving this item but am definitely disappointed. 7 outfits and I can't find one I'm interested in cutting out. There's just too little detail.
The two depictions of Elizabeth flashing calf are a bit disturbing. Why is her calf larger than her head?
This item would be OK if you're interested in a viewing a rough sketch of these very famous costumes.

It's intriguing that three of the five longest-reigning monarchs of England have been female: Elizabeth I (45 years), Victoria (64), and Elizabeth II (60 to date). (Henry III, at 56 years, and Edward III at 50 beat out the first, but not the latter two.) This Tierney paper doll portrays the first Elizabeth, who, like Victoria, George I-IV, and Edward VIII, gave her name to her era, and was a trend-setter in fashion like few others. She's provided with costumes that take her through age 13 (she looks older, as young people usually did in the days when they were dressed as mirrors of their elders) into her 60's, with the elaborate farthingales, sleeves, lace, jewelry, and hair styles that were faithfully copied by her court. Tierney's liner notes for this volume are particularly extensive and comprehensive.

It's a pretty paper doll book of the "Queen Elizabeth I" but still I saw other paper doll book who were more beautiful, this one lack of little details but it's still a nice book if you like to know what kind of wardrobe Queen Elizabeth was wearing and if you are interest in "Elizabeth I" like I do you will like it!
