This book is truely a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. A comprehensive listing of 50 magnificent women who made their dent in history, and in some cases changed it! For anyone who loves history or any woman who loves to read about the fabulous women who precedented them, this a must!

Excellent book.Very well and clearly written.Not just dry information.

Also coffee table appearance.Excellent for gifts too.

This book takes a look at fifty of the most remarkable women rulers throughout history. From the dawn of civilization in Egypt to the most controversial women of the 20th century, I really enjoyed reading about familiar rulers and more obscure women who shaped world history. I was surprised to see a few notorious figures left out, like Anne Boleyn and Alexandra Romanov, but I suppose Gold had to limit her choices or this book could have easily been twice as long.

This book is busting with powerful females. It contains exactly what is says it does and gives you good and powerful insight into many powerful women spanning over thousands of years. Just based off of my own personal knowledge from reading many dedicated biographies on a few of the women featured, I can tell you this author has done quality research. If you want to know summarized information on the very interesting women in this book and are interested in strong women in history in general I recommend this. I would however not recommend it if you are looking on deep and detailed information on these women. Get the book, read about the women, and if you find yourself more interested buy a more specific and dedicated biography on them. This is completely understandable since you can't really have 50 books detailing every moment of each of these women's lives.

I was excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint! It was well researched and easy to read. I would recommend this others who enjoy history.

Oh, I just love this book! I am not yet half-way through it but I believe that I can give a decent review on what I have read. Each account of each woman (Ruler, Queen, Empress, etc) is short, only about 1-2 pages long. There is a photo with each account, and some of the photo's are just beautiful. The paper stock that this book is published on is heavy and of good quality too. I purchase most of my reading on a kindle now but this type of book would not be well-savored on that devise. It's worth the money..so I recommend this to anyone wanting a quick and easy to understand short history on women- and their power and accomplishments to our world.
