5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely stunning!, January 21, 2007
This review is from: Queen of Harps (Audio CD)
This is a great example of historical Irish harp music, beautifully played on the wire-strung Celtic harp. The results are absolutely stunning - buy it now!

You can read more about my love affair with the wire-strung Celtic harp via my review of Patrick Ball's album Fair Play. Ann Heymann made Patrick Ball's playing possible: she re-invented the techniques necessary to play an instrument that had been dead for centuries (and it requires a completely different technique; those who play other harps can't play a brass-strung harp well). Her playing is more taut and dynamic than Patrick Ball's, but perhaps truer to how the instrument might have been played originally. Patrick himself wrote me in a letter that she is the greatest player in his eyes.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good, August 18, 2005

I really like rock or string quartets usually, but this harp album stands out as very nice!

I don't know enough to say much more, sorry. But it is better than other harp albums I have heard.

I don;t own this album but I believe it that it is SCOTTISH harp music. (Not Irish). Similar but there are some significant differences.
