Very well written with a positively dynamic storyline. I couldn't put it down. Some great truths hidden in the story. A great work of art.

I liked this book, but I didn't love it. I have a personal weakness for loving stories about Fae, so I bought it.
The writing is rather dense at times. The author seems to love descriptive prose, but couldn't decide which phrase to use - so he used them all. It slows the book down, while also having an effect of creating that sense of otherworldly. You cannot describe the Fae in one pretty sentence, just as you cannot get a solid feel for them from just one book. I must point out that the author isn't describing objects, he describes the emotions of the moments at great detail. Amazingly, he didn't lose me while he did so (it's a very, very slow and confusing start to the book that makes sense later) and I couldn't quite seem to stop reading.
It's a good story. I liked his history of the Fae and how they came to be where they are in the modern world. I liked the characters, the worlds and I actually did like the ending.
Not sure I would read it again, but I certainly don't regret the weekend I spent on it.

Jason Louv has done a great job with creating a world within a world within a world. Queen Valentine was an excellent read, well written and well paced. There are a lot of deep themes that run through the book but down drag it down because the story flows quickly and is kept very interesting throughout. I can't wait to see what he does next.

What if Robert Anton Wilson was re-written by Eoin Colfer ... or the other way around? Jason Louv offers a new twist on the lower elements, drawing the reader further and further down the rabbit hole, as it were. I had trouble putting it down.

Thoroughly enjoyable, fun read. Jason Louv creates a magical underworld interwoven with ours, in the vein of Harry Potter but brimming with adult action and adventure!
