5.0 out of 5 stars symphony of sound, August 10, 2009
By
This review is from: Queens Die Proudly (Dig) (Audio CD)
whether its her gripping voice or the seamless arrangements, i was blown away by what could be accomplished by an artist truly in love w/ her craft. it's hard to classify her music, as she goes beyond traditional ideas of sound, but the support of joachim cooder brings each and every song so much more depth and texture. ry cooder's soulful guitar in "nature of things" evokes feelings and memories of your innermost bittersweet experiences.

while each track stands alone, together they creates a truly wonderful musical journey. rarely do i find tracks, let alone a whole album, that creates the symphony of sounds that she brings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mesmerizing, March 3, 2011

It's difficult to describe the musical style on this album, so I just call it "mesmerizing". Beautiful, haunting, poignant, heartfelt, passionate and breathtaking would also be good descriptions. I'm not much into lyrics, generally speaking, but the lyrics are also great. My favorite track is "Hearts", though every track is very good. Check out the wonderful video for "The Nature of Things" to get an idea of just how amazing this album really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this album, May 29, 2010

Although the stand out song is probably the title one, I love all of this album. Yes, it's traditional solo female electronica (or jazz as Amazon seems to show(?)), but still great.
