3.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting, but too short.
Published in England. Nicely done. Lots of illustrations. Text is very interesting. The only problem is: it is too short. You can read it completely in under 10 minutes. They should have included more kings and queens and more detail on the ones they did include. Its billed as being a children's book, but the names of some of the kings and queens were difficult...

The Usborne Book of Kings & Queens looks at rulers from all over the world, from their earliest times to the present.

It explores their lives from coronations to funerals, examines their palaces, monuments and regalia, exposes royal scandals and intrigues, and explains unsolved mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good thing in a small package., February 10, 2006
This review is from: Kings and Queens (Usborne Hotshots) (Paperback)
At 32 pages, total, this is more like a pamphlet than a book. At the time I posted this review, used copies were available for 98 cents plus shipping. At this price, don't expect exhaustive coverage of the subject. However, for a quickie look at the subject, this is very nicely done. There are color pictures on every page. The monarchs covered include Akhenaten, Nefertiti, King Tut, Alexander the Great, Boudicca, Shih Huan Ti, Montezuma, Atahualpa, Charlemagne, Kublai Kahan, Henry VIII, Ivan IV, Louis XIV, Nicholas Romanov II, Shah Jahan, Ludwig II, the Dalai Lama, Elizabeth I and II, and briefer mention of a few others. I would call it suitable for all ages, high school and up. Unless you are a seasoned history professor, you will learn something about the subject from this tiny book.
