5.0 out of 5 stars Nearly flawless
I think I would give this 4.5 out of 5, but anyway this is a nearly flawless album. For anyone that likes QB groups like Mobb Deep, CNN, Nas, and the countless others this is as good as it gets. Nearly every song on the album is good. I thought the best tracks were Da Bridge 2001, We Live This, Find Ya Wealth, Straight Outta QB, Oochie Wally, Our Way, Fire, Power Rap,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tight flow, but lyrics and beats were paltry
Everyone on this CD can flow. Nas, Cormega, Nature, Mobb Deep, Bravehearts, and the rest are on point with their flow. The lyrics, however, get mindnumbingly repetitive. How many times do they have to repeat "Queens" or "bridge" or "Queensbridge?" I know that they're all from Queensboro, but damn, do they have to pound that into our heads...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nearly flawless, April 7, 2001

This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
I think I would give this 4.5 out of 5, but anyway this is a nearly flawless album. For anyone that likes QB groups like Mobb Deep, CNN, Nas, and the countless others this is as good as it gets. Nearly every song on the album is good. I thought the best tracks were Da Bridge 2001, We Live This, Find Ya Wealth, Straight Outta QB, Oochie Wally, Our Way, Fire, Power Rap, Money, Self Conscience, and Die 4. The only song I didn't like was Street Glory. What makes this album great are all the differing MCs and the excellent production. The MCs include "classic" QB artists like MC Shan, Shante, and Marley Marl. The group, of course, includes top QB artists of today like Nas, CNN, Mobb Deep, Nature, Cormega, and Big Noyd. It also serves as an introduction to some MCs that many people have not heard like Tragedy aka Tragedy/Khadafi (who appeared a lot of CNN's classic War Report), Millenium Thug, The Bravehearts, Ruc, Jungle, Poet of Screwball, Iman Thug, Pop, Lord Black, Littles, Craig G, Chaos, Mr Challish, and Infamous Mobb. This makes the album great as does the excellent production. Most of the production is done by LES (Da Bridge 2001, Real Ni**as, Find Ya Wealth, Straight Outta QB, Fire, Street Glory, We Break Bread), but he gets help from Havoc (We Live This, Power Rap), EZ Elpee (Oochie Wally), Scott Storch (Our Way), Alchemist (Money), Mike D & Jugrnaut (Self Conscience), Plain Truth (Die 4), and Al West (Teenage Thug). Overall, this is a terrific album which features top MCs and production. This album may not be for everyone, but anyone who likes NYC hardcore will like this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Rap Dynasty Will Never End! NEVER!, February 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
QB was right on the money recording this album. Every song is like a hood drama. From "Money"by Mr. Challish, to "Self Conscience" by Nas & Prodigy. "Da Bridge 2001" is the perfect QB jumpoff, packed with tons of stars over a tight old school beat. Nature holds it down on his cut,"Fire". "Straight Outta QB" by Cormega/Jungle/Poet,"Oochie Wally" by the Bravehearts,"We Live This" by Havoc/Shante, and "Kids In Da PJs" by Nas/Millenium Thug/Bravehearts are considered the best QB joints I've ever heard. CNN & Infamous Mobb hold it down as well. If you don't buy this album, this is truly your loss, and that's for sure. QB 4 life

Everyone on this CD can flow. Nas, Cormega, Nature, Mobb Deep, Bravehearts, and the rest are on point with their flow. The lyrics, however, get mindnumbingly repetitive. How many times do they have to repeat "Queens" or "bridge" or "Queensbridge?" I know that they're all from Queensboro, but damn, do they have to pound that into our heads? Also, the lyrics aren't witty enough. They aren't very confusing either. They rap about the same stuff that countless other rappers have rapped about--guns, having sex with women, how great their hometown is, how great it is to be out of the ghetto and look back, and drugs. I might have missed something, but that's basically it. The beats are terribly sleepy. "Oochie Wally" was the only upbeat song on the entire album (and it's the first major single off the album too, coincidence?). I can't stand albums with sleepy, laid-back beats. A few such beats are ok, but the whole album?!

If you like lyricists with tight flows, get this album. If you can stay awake during the beats and don't mind people with the same-sounding voice talking about the same tired material, then get this album. Otherwise, get a regular Nas album, because he's better off by himself than when he has to carry everyone else too.

P.S. I bought this album and the terrible Afu-Ra album after reading Amazon.com reviews. I will never read a review on Amazon.com again, but I will keep writing them because I don't just talk about the good in an album.

5.0 out of 5 stars QB does it like they always have......., March 5, 2001

This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
QB's Finest was an idea that Nas had going on all along and he just finally got the time to put everything together. After "Illmatic" by Nas and "The Infamous" by Mobb Deep, a path was created for rappers to follow by just telling the street tales of the infamous QB and letting your skills do the rest. Capone N Noreaga, Nature, Cormega, The Bravehearts, Infamous Mobb, & Millenium Thug are following in the path that was created for them. The CD starts off with a Who's Who of Queensbridge, "Da Bridge 2001" and has Nas ending up the all star jam with a memorable verse. Although, this isn't a Nas CD, he does carry a lot of lyrical weight on this CD compilation. Nas also includes a song that was supposed to be released in 1999 with the "I Am" and "Nastradamus" Cds, "Find Ya Wealth". This song is classic Nasty Nas, as he goes back to his roots with this song. This song will definitely have fans waiting for his new CD. QB's Finest also allows others to shine as well. Prodigy, who not to long ago released "H.N.I.C", which is a classic, shows up on "Power Rap" and a song with Nas "Self Conscience" and both of those songs are tight as well. Nature shows up with "Fire" and will have some people going to pick up his solo CD, the slept on "For All Seasons". Capone N Noreaga, who also have a classic CD on their hands with the highly anticipated "The Reunion", show up with Iman Thug on the song, "Our Way". The 2nd single to this compilation is a song for the ladies called "Oochie Wally" by The Bravehearts. The song is tight but the song on the CD is not the song that everyone is hearing on the radio and in the video. Nas, does the 1st verse on that version and it's disappointing that this version is not on this CD. However, the song will probably show up on a re-released version of this CD. This happens a lot on Cds but this CD is still a must have in your collection, even if you don't have the current "Oochie Wally" on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Queensbridge compilation put out by Nas, June 13, 2005
By
This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
Nas putting this out with a lot of QB artists (some of whom he was feuding with at the time) took some ba!!$ and for some reason a lot of people hate on this like they did "The Firm" (another great album). Don't expect to be getting a Nas album with this (he is on 7 of the 16 songs but only has 1 solo. Some of the finest rappers from QB make appearance on this and not many were left out (3 of the 4 members of Screwball and a few from Tragedy's 25 II Life crew most notably). Of the 16 songs, all are good, great or a classic (actually has 3 and a good amount that are close). Production is great (it lacks on a few tracks) LES does 7, Havoc & Infinite Arkatecz each do 2, ALCHemist, Scott Storch, EZ Elpee, Al West and Plain Truth all do 1 track. Make sure you get the version that has "Da Bridge 2001" on it, not all of them do. A must have album for QB rap fans, as is the "41st Side" compilation album.

#2 - 9.5 (Nas, Capone, Mobb Deep, Cormega, MC Shan, Nature, Cormega, Tragedy Khadafi, Millenium Thug (NaShawn) -- good beat Nas gets on Memphis Bleek on this one)
#3 - 9 (Havoc, Big Noyd, Shante -- great beat)
#4 - 8.5 (Nas, Ruc)
#5 - 9 (Nas)
#6 - 9.5 (Cormega, Jungle of the Braveheats, and Poet of Screwball who kicks a great verse -- good sample beat)
#7 - 8 (Braveheats (Horse, Jungle, Wiz -- I liked it before it got WAY overplayed)
#8 - 10 (CLASSIC -- Capone, Noreaga, Iman Thug -- great beat and hook -- they all kick fire verses)
#9 - 8 (Nature)
#10 - 9 (Prodigy)
#11 - 8.5 (Nas, Pop {Blitz})
#12 - 9 (Littles, Craig G, Lord Black, Chaos)
#13 - 9.5 (Mr. Challish -- great beat)
#14 - 10 (CLASSIC deep song with Prodigy & Nas)
#15 - 10 (Classic gangsta song by Infamous Mobb (Ty Knitty, GOD Pt. 3, Twin Gambino)
#16 - 8.5 (Nas, Millenium Thug (Nashawn)& Horse & Wiz of Braveheats)
#17 - 8 (Nas & Millenium Thug (Nashawn)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Compilation of the year !!, January 12, 2001
By
This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
From the moment on I saw "Da Bridge 2001" on TV, I knew I had to get that album. So I went to my record store the day after, and now I have it. It is definetly the best compilation this year, every track is perfect arranged. In a way it is difficult to say which one is the best, but "Da Bridge 2001" and "Straight outta QB" are the highlights on the album. I hope there will be a Vol. 2 in the future of that hot, of the hook beat compilation...

Yo, Qb is out with this slamming complimation come at you all. Cormega the greatest artist without puttin out an album delivers. Capone has sharped his skills. Nas, one of my all time favorites is showing sign of Illmatic ghetto prophet. I was looking forward to hearing Nashawn on these tracks, if Mill thug flows. Mobb Deep showing why they are G.G.O.A.T. I love the sound of this album, I guess cause Queens put out the hottest sh@t. Tracks to pay close attention to 1 through the whole album is a tunnel, jeep banger. pick this up along with NATURE"for all seasons", Prodigy "HNIC", CNN "the Reunion" and DOE (Death of Esobar) aka Lost tapes aka Stillmatic by NAS and also ALi Vegas "generation Gap" when they hit the streets in 2001. Love. Big props to the Org MC Shan, Marley Marl and Shante, Craig G, Screwball, Kamikoze, Godfather and Littles. One love to QB. Yall got love in CHI-town,baba. ONe. PEAce

1.0 out of 5 stars Please Don't Drive Drunk To This!, June 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Queensbridge's Finest: The Album (Audio CD)
Oochie Wally was tight so I got it. It was one my favorite songs at that time. The album made me keep hitting the skip button. And then one of them said that he will sell crack to a pregnant women on Straight outta Queensbridge. So what!!You proud of that? I decided to look past that and listen to rest of it. I'm cool with cuss words but when they are overused it takes alway from the music. The cd was boring from start to finish. It seemed like they was trying to be NWA or something on Straight outta Queensbridge. They should be more original. This is not 1990. And then I almost fell out when Our Way came on. It opened with them saying "Drive Drunk To This" ova and ova again. Hey I wonder if I drive drunk to this and killed some of your family members will you still say that. That was totally ignorant. For Real. Think about what you saying. Have compassion for the people killed by drunk drivers. That alone warrants the 1 star but the cd still sucked. I thought Nas was betta then that. I feel like cussing somebody out after hearing this.LOL
