4.0 out of 5 stars Still incomplete... but very good.
This is exactly the same as the VHS version. Nothing new has been added. I would have given it 5 stars but I would have prefered to have the "Queen of the Ryche" video included instead of one of the 2 "Silent Lucidity" versions but it is still very good. "Scarsborough Fair" from the MTV Unplugged live session would have been nice but the 2 tracks they did include from...

2.0 out of 5 stars What an awesome DVD this could have been, if Geffen hadn't ruined it.
Finally we get the entire music video collection from Queensryche. Unfortunately, somebody who should be shot, decided it would be cool to have the band talk over the start of nearly all the music videos, essentially ruining them. Geffen & whoever was in charge of this project screwed up in a major way! This could have been one of the best DVDs out there...

This review is from: Queensryche: Building Empires (DVD)
This is exactly the same as the VHS version. Nothing new has been added. I would have given it 5 stars but I would have prefered to have the "Queen of the Ryche" video included instead of one of the 2 "Silent Lucidity" versions but it is still very good. "Scarsborough Fair" from the MTV Unplugged live session would have been nice but the 2 tracks they did include from that are great. This also contains commentary by members of the group. Amazon.com has not included the track list so I'll put one here. I wish Queensryche would re-issue the OOP "Live in Tokyo" from "the Warning" tour concert on DVD, "The Prochecy" from that is on here.

Building Empires:
1) Nightrider (video), 2) The Prophecy ("Live in Tokyo" video), 3) Gonna Get Close to You (video), 4) Eyes of a Stranger (unreleased video version), 5) Empire (video), 6) Best I Can (video), 7) Silent Lucidity (video), 8) Jet City Woman (video), 9) Another Rainy Night (unreleased video version), 10) Another Rainy Night (video), 11) Anybody Listening (video), 12) Resistance (Live), 13) Walk in the Shadows (Live), 14) The Thin Line (Live), 15) Take Hold of the Flame (Live), 16) The Lady Wore Black (Live), 17) Silent Lucidity (Live), 18) I Will Remember (MTV Unplugged Live), 19) Della Brown (MTV Unplugged Live)

5.0 out of 5 stars Building Empires, April 23, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Queensryche: Building Empires (DVD)
I give this DVD 5 stars because it shows the humble beginings to the awkward incline to the top. It emcompasses all that with interviews(not with all the band unfortunately), videos and stage performance. Not too many people get what I get out of this band, which is too bad for them. These guys are incredible, period. Looking for songs that will motivate, create passion, create deep thoughts, or just plain ROCK OUT TO. Its one stop all the way here. You get Silent Lucidity, The Thin Line, Best I Can, Eyes Of A Stranger. The only gripes is that they didn't expand on the material since the VHS version. They should have included more extras, interviews and maybe videos expanding into the Hear in the Now Frontier(which I do enjoy!)-IF THEY MADE ANY VIDEOS, you wouldn't know it from the crap MTV/VH1 forces down everyones gullets now daze. As you can tell, I really love these guys. I am from Seattle and if you ask me, they gave birth to the Seattle music scene explosion. But I guess the corporate music puppitiers thought it would be easier to "control" herion addicts like Curt Cobain and Courtney Love than to promote a band with real talent AND with something to say... Think about it people-KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN !

I just love it, it shows videos and live performance from the beginning, commentary by members of the group, the ways they experimented with different musical approaches and the passion to make the finest music possible. Awesome.

Queensryche in my opinion, is one of the best bands in the progressive metal era. I really wish that it would've included more from the MTV "Unplugged" special though. The way they played "I Will Remember" was so spine chilling that it gave me goosebumps. I looked all over for this video and I found it. It's very hard to find now since it is out-of-print, so that makes it even more special to me. If you like queensryche this video is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars The MTV Unplugged Sessions make it worth buying!, July 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Building Empires [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I watched this video once, just to find myself repeating over and over the last two songs from the MTV Unplugged Sessions. Their performance of their 1986 hit "I will remember" is so inspiring, that it will stay with me forever. This MTV Unplugged concert really deserves its own album and video.
