Book Description

November 15, 1998
A hilariously and startlingly insightful astrology guide for gay men.

Jill Dearman is a breakthrough astrologer for our time. No one has approached the stars with her sass and class ever before! Her guide to astrology for gay men is lively, revealing-- and naughty!

Sections include: in life, in bed, how to seduce him, doing him and dating him, how to last over the long haul, how to get rid of him, and the three faces of each sign.

And a complete compatibility profile of each astrological combination.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Jill Dearman provides readers with a dozen templates for the modern gay male that could be viewed as archetypal or stereotypical, depending on how you feel about astrological profiling. "Cancer men in general have weird mother fixations," for example, while Pisces "are complete and total whores" in bed. She described what each sign is like in life and in bed, then tells you "how to seduce him," what you can expect on dates, "how to last over the long haul," and--should it prove necessary--"how to dump him." The second half of the book goes through all 78 possible matchups to gauge their compatibility, indicative of the book's implicit assumption that the reader is looking for a long-term relationship. Dearman addresses herself exclusively to the gay male; bisexuals will just have to take their chances on whether her information applies to them entirely, only by half, or not at all. --Ron Hogan

About the Author

Jill Dearman has been a fascinated student of the signs and planets since childhood. She has written professionally about astrology for numerous publications since 1990. The study of the stars led her to the study of human nature, and she has worked volunteer or part time as an HIV counselor throughout the 1990s.

She is also a playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker, with many lurid credits to her name. Her short film The Great Bravura, a magician's tale, has been screened at several festivals, and she is currently developing a feature-length version of the story, which she hopes to film in the twenty-first century.

She spins her web in New York City, but in her frequent moments of pomposity, views herself as a "citizen of the world." You can visit Jill Dearman's Web site at www.alphaomega1.com/jilldear.htm.

More About the Author

I am an authoress, writing coach and editor on a three-fold mission:
1.to help writers to get off the internet and do some writing
2.to help writers to battle the voices of doom, depression and drunken blues long enough to actually put some words on paper, perhaps even revise them, and eventually finish their potential great works.
3. to help writers to help each other to make the writing community a little less blah and a little more bon vivant!

I have been leading writing workshops and working as a writing coach since 2003. I have clients across the country and beyond (ask me about time travel later). I am a journalist who teaches at New York University and my award-winning prose has been published in numerous literary magazines including North Atlantic Review, New York Stories, The Portland Review and Lilith.

5.0 out of 5 stars This gal REALLY knows her stuff!!, August 14, 1999
By A Customer

Being an accredited astrologer myself, I was a bit cynical when I ordered this book. I expected the kind of vapid babble in the style of Joan Quigley or Linda Goodman. WRONG! This lady really impressed me with her knowledge, not to mention her salty wit! I am ordering more copies to have on hand for gifts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious Astrology Guide for Gay Men A Great Primer & More, March 8, 1999

Knowing little about astrology, I found this book an excellent way to find out what all the fuss is about what the stars have in store for us. I received this book as a present from my lover, and together we read it and laughed over the many right-on insights Ms. Dearman had concerning Aries-Taurus relationships. I really liked the way the author used over-the-top humor and pop references to draw me in. She obviously takes astrology very seriously, and is generous in her evaluations and pointers. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who feels out of the loop when it comes to horoscope matters. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Book for Gay Star Gazers, March 8, 1999
This review is from: Queer Astrology for Men (Paperback)
As someone who loves to check out my daily horoscope, it's often frustrating to read predictions that have nothing to do with my life. It's great that Jill Dearman has written this new book, which is not only "out-and-out" hilarious, but also examines issues and matters that are very dear to me and my partner. In a remarkably fun and breezy matter, Jill covers a lot of territory and leaves me wanting more. I can't wait for her sequel!
