My 23 month old daughter loves this. It has chunky pegs, and is realistic for a 2 year old to be able to insert. Excellent storage case and very well built product. You can NOT go wrong with; one of the better toys we have...and its quiet! I expect this to last well into her 3rd year.

I had really high hopes for this one and was delighted when my sister selected this as a birthday gift for my son.

My little boy is 26 mos old and generally prefers puzzles and blocks as toys. He doesn't care much for cars/trucks. So I thought this toy with lots of manipulatives would be super fun for him.

What I discovered, sadly, is that although he is happy when you present this toy to him, he is not long entertained by it. There is a plastic frame with holes for the buttons/pegs to fit into, and the picture cards slide into notches on the backside. Think Lite Brite.

The unfortunate thing is that even if you fit the buttons into the holes properly to "complete" a picture of a dragon/house/etc, the mosaic that results really looks nothing like a dragon/house/etc. You just have a blob of buttons/pegs.

Also, the pictures are confusing. Once you insert one of the picture cards into the plastic template frame, you're not sure what to do for lots of the holes. Many of the holes are half green, half white. Do we put a green peg in here? Or leave it empty? Whichever you choose there is a big outcome on the final product.

My boy does enjoy the mechanical activity of insertion/removal but that's about it. This is a textbook three-star toy.

EDIT: AUGUST 23 2011. In the past few months, my son's interest has ratcheted up a lot with this toy. It's an ideal last-half-hour-before-bed toy as we're winding down in the living room getting ready for sleep. He's much more interested in putting the right color peg in the right color hole and is proud when he has completed the picture. I still think the quality isn't great but the boy likes it.

This is a great toy for 2+. My daughter has no problem manipulating the pegs on her own, putting them away, sorting them, or using it as a travel case/toy. Also she spends a lot of time playing with this toy and can use it on her own. We have had no problems with the construction or quality of this toy. I would recommend it.

I got this board for my daughter for Christmas. At that time she was not even two and played with it for a good period of time. Very educational and fun activity that will keep your toddlers occupied for a good period of time.

I bought this product for my disabled chil he was actually using it in ot it is a great way to achieve bettr eye hand coordination learning colours and developing creativity , and the toy is made of very flexible nice plastic for him to work with

My son loves this toy, as does every child that comes over to play. It is great for hand eye coordination and recgonizing patterns. I highly recommend it for every preschool age child

This toy is great! We were introduced to it by my son's speech therapist. He loved it the first time he used it. It's fun for the kids and it helps reinforce color knowledge, sorting, following patterns using the colored sides, encourages imagination using the black & white sides and is great for fine motor control. My son received it when he on his second birthday, still uses it daily 7 months later and now my almost one year old daughter is beginning to play with it also. The entire toy is still in perfect condition despite being subjected to a toddler's handling. I also love that it is totally gender neutral. I recommend this toy to everyone!

I got this because it was recommended on another website and didn't really have high hopes for it - didn't really think my 2 year old would be that amused by it. She love it though! It is definitely one of her favorite toys right away. She fills in the picture colors, but then likes to use the rest of the pegs to fill in the rest of the board in whatever pattern she sees fit. So she may not get the "point" but it keeps her entertained and I think it's good for her coordination. She does not like to keep it in the easel and I wish the board had a backing to keep all the pictures in, but overall, I think it's a great toy and plan to purchase it for her friends' birthdays in the future.

My nephew loved it, and my sister too. It has 4 colors and large pegs for little hands. It comes with pictures in color and no color so little minds have a good creative thinking. I'm happy with the product. One thing though. It may look like a traveling toy, it is not. The plastic lock that came with it seems only be used to keep the pegs and pictures inside storage space. If your 2 year old happens to lift it up and take it along, you'll have a spill. It happened.

We just go this in the mail a couple of days ago. I was VERY excited to open it and show it to my two year old son. He played with it for about 5 minutes and lost interest. Hopefully he want to use it more as he sees it in the house. It was easy for him to pick up the pegs and begin using it. Didn't need much help!
