really fun toy,

My son got this for his first birthday. Now, just over 2, he finally puts it together on his own, making working gear set-ups. But he loved it right away, and quickly learned to turn the handle if we set it up. He also played with the animals and pieces just as interesting objects at first. Then he worked hard to master the hand-eye coordination to fit the animals and trees into the little holes on the blocks and gears. He also uses the animals with playdough (sticks them in).
Considering the heavy use this toy has had by a young toddler (who is pretty rough on his stuff), I am impressed with how it has held up. Recently my son snapped off one of the posts that attach the animals to the blocks or gears. But he bends them and otherwise abuses them all the time, and there are 7 more animals. Adults love this toy too, they always want to set up their own gears with it. Its colorful and fun, and its like a puzzle and a building toy combined in one. I am thinking about buying some of the other Georello sets (gears, marble runs) because I think they can all be used together.

breaks easy,

The pegs on the bottom of the animals break easily, the gears seem a little stronger but I am disappointed.

This is one of my daughter's favorite toys (she's 20 months old). She's just now starting to put the pieces together herself. She loves to spin the gears especially with the animal characters on top. The only problem is that she's not completely coordinated and tries to jam the animals in and the pegs break. Over half of the animals pegs are broken now, but she still loves to put it all together and spin the gears. I love the characters and the colors too - very well designed. And I can't complain about a toy that is educational and doesn't require batteries, just imagination.

This is a great toy, fun to play with. My daughter is not yet 2 and we have been helping her play with this toy for a while. The pieces are a bit tricky to set up but once you get them in place you turn the handle and the geras move and turn pretty well. I do have one complaint the animals and trees are inserted into place and are sitting on top of 2 very thin plastic pieces that extend out of each piece. My daughter was trying to place one in and it broke, once that bottom piece brakes, that particular piece is no longer usable. I also don't know why I thought you would turn a switch on to make everything turn, it is a manual toy. Very creative piece, kind of like a fancy leggo!
