About the Author

L. M. Roth is a "pilgrim on the path of life" and a seeker of truth. This quest first began when the author read Little Women and was struck by the sense of destiny shared by each of the March sisters as they "pilgrimed" their way through the trials and thrills that only life can offer. The quest deepened through the exposure to classic mythology and legends, which birthed a sense of hidden identity, that we are not who we have always thought we were, but are each of us heroes and heroines destined for something great and noble. Who are we? Where are we going? What tasks are we meant to accomplish during our time on Earth? We are all on a journey together as we seek the answers. You may join L. M. Roth in that quest anytime you read one of the author's books. L. M. Roth is the pen name of a Christian author from the American Midwest. You can keep up to date with L. M. Roth on Facebook and play the Quiz of the Day, a fun and informative game featuring the books of L. M. Roth.

I really enjoyed reading this book as I got caught up in the drama by the second chapter. It brought out the adventure and the kid in me which that hasn't happened for a while. The book moved fast through captivating countries, formidable advisories, the bonds of new friendships and I moved right along with each character so I would recommend this to anyone. There were no offensive parts and yet it had enough suspense for me that I read more than 90% of it in one setting.

Quest for the Kingdom contains a set of colorful characters traveling through varied landscapes so clearly described that the readers feels they are there with the company. As the story continues, the importance of the Quest they have embarked upon becomes clearer. The ending leaves the readers wanting to continue the quest and unravel the mysteries to come. I'm anticipating the second book -coming soon!

I am someone who enjoys Christian fantasy. I tend to like how fiction writers find interest ways to use biblical scriptures to weave a story. With that said, this book was just OK. The author did a good job of explaining other beliefs, though I did not like the way the main character discounted other's beliefs throughout the story.

However, my biggest issue with this book is the story telling. The exclamation point is overused. Recognizing that this is probably young adult fiction, it is written like the audience is children just learning how to read. A book with several hundred pages should not be written like a reading primer, where the author needs to use the exclamation point to convey narrative. Interestingly, when the author described things like the environment, the descriptions were well written and engaging. However, when the author described Marcus' thoughts about Fanchon, for example, that's when the overuse of the exclamation point became and issue.

While I fundamental found the story line to be interesting, I struggled to finish the book because of the writing. I do not see myself purchasing the future books. I would recommend this book for a young person, but find it too simplistic for my taste. I would be interested in future works by this author written at a more adult level.
