Book Description

“I heard of a legend, one I have never forgotten. It was said that there is a great Pearl, a gem of marvelous and terrible beauty. It was said that it is more costly than gold, more precious than silver, more glorious than any other jewel to be found in all the world. And it was said that any one could buy it, but the price of it cost all that one possessed. Have you ever heard of this Pearl, Marcus?”

“No, Your Grace, I have never heard of it.”

“I have been obsessed with the thought of possessing that Pearl since first I heard of it. I sent messengers far and wide for further news of it, of where it might be found. But no one could tell me more. Yet I know it exists; of that I am certain.”

Aurora leaned toward Marcus, gripping tightly the arms of her throne. Her jade eyes glittered with a greedy light in their green depths.

“I want that Pearl, Marcus. I will never rest until I possess it. And I want you to find it and bring it back to me.”

“What of my parents? My journey may be a long one. What of them? How long must they be your prisoners?”

Aurora lifted her head slightly and shot Marcus a dazzling smile. Then she laughed a tinkling laugh like the jingle of silver bells.

“Oh, did I not make it clear to you? The release of your parents depends upon the success of your quest. No Pearl, no parents.”

Marcus struggled for breath. He stared at Aurora blindly, the room spinning around him once more.

“I want that Pearl. You go and get it for me. Then we will talk about releasing your parents. But, Marcus, you bring me that Pearl.”

"All may seek, and all may buy, the Great Pearl of price so rare, But it costs all you possess, So let the buyer beware."

Thus begins the riddle that leads young Marcus Maximus, the proud and snobbish son of the Commander of the Imperial Army of Valerium, on the quest of a lifetime. In a single day his world of wealth and privilege is destroyed when he is seized and sold into slavery, his father's estate confiscated by the government, and his parents thrown into prison. And he discovers that during his slavery his one true love has turned to another: his closest friend, who is now a rival for her hand.

Now an Empress as ruthless as she is beautiful demands that Marcus find and bring to her a legendary and costly Pearl as the price for his life and the freedom of his beloved parents. The quest takes him to fantastic lands where he meets extraordinary people and is joined by unusual companions, but he finds more questions than answers along his journey. For he will learn of the mysterious and powerful Dominio, be haunted and hunted by the evil Astra, and receive the gift of a fabulous sword that must never be used in violence.

About the Author

L. M. Roth is a "pilgrim on the path of life" and a seeker of truth. This quest first began when the author read Little Women and was struck by the sense of destiny shared by each of the March sisters as they "pilgrimed" their way through the trials and thrills that only life can offer. The quest deepened through the exposure to classic mythology and legends, which birthed a sense of hidden identity, that we are not who we have always thought we were, but are each of us heroes and heroines destined for something great and noble. Who are we? Where are we going? What tasks are we meant to accomplish during our time on Earth? We are all on a journey together as we seek the answers. You may join L. M. Roth in that quest anytime you read one of the author's books. L. M. Roth is the pen name of a Christian author from the American Midwest. You can keep up to date with L. M. 5.0 out of 5 stars moving adventure August 31, 2012

I really enjoyed reading this book as I got caught up in the drama by the second chapter. It brought out the adventure and the kid in me which that hasn't happened for a while. The book moved fast through captivating countries, formidable advisories, the bonds of new friendships and I moved right along with each character so I would recommend this to anyone. There were no offensive parts and yet it had enough suspense for me that I read more than 90% of it in one setting.

Quest for the Kingdom contains a set of colorful characters traveling through varied landscapes so clearly described that the readers feels they are there with the company. As the story continues, the importance of the Quest they have embarked upon becomes clearer. The ending leaves the readers wanting to continue the quest and unravel the mysteries to come. I'm anticipating the second book -coming soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Adventure Begins... December 22, 2012
By TC Webb
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Adventure! An impossible task with dire consequences. An empire ruled by vanity and strength. This is the story of how a young man's life is forever changed in a moment by an Empress' selfish desire. And how what was meant for punishment made Him a better man. The is a story full of characters you get to know, not just know of. With lands and kingdoms full of beauty and culture. And yet the story is never lost but always flows. This is definitely a good read! If an adventure is what you are looking for, allow it to begin here.
