You won't believe how this reads......,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
I'm 42 YO and for the first time I'm reading bible stories with understanding and a desire not-to-set-it-down. It's great! If you've every wondered about why, then this is a must-read book. For example, the story of King David was remarkable. I've always thought, from my King-James up-bringing, that a boy defeated a giant and became King. I'm finding out so much moore! King David reads like a best-seller showing human suffering, defeat, and success. This book truely gives an insight into human history. I highly recommend it!

An outstanding Bible regardless of your Biblical familiarity,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
Published in the easy-to-understand NIV format, this Bible is perfect for those who are newcomers to scripture. It explains a lot of difficult concepts and contains essays on frequently asked questions. Even those who are very familiar with scripture will find the essays and commentary thought-provoking as well as helpful. An excellent Biblical resource for anyone's bookshelf.

This is one of the most helpful Bibles I have used in my ministry. People, especially those fairly new to Scripture take to this like a duck to water. The sidebar explanations are just enough to wet peoples appetites.

An excellent explanation of the Bible. Answers many questions that the lay reader is likely to have. Most lay people do not have the time and the energy to do exhaustive studies of the bible. The study guides and annotations provided help us understand marvelously!I do wish the book was printed on better paper. Many times, the ink on one page is visible on the next and even the page following.

Best study Bible I've ever seen,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
I've studied the King James Bible and the Living Bible, but my favorite is the Quest Study Bible (NIV Version). The comments in the side-bar areas give insight into the verses, the maps of Jesus ministry and Paul's journeys, and the dictionary and concordance make this a valuable study tool.

One of my favorite Bibles,
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
This Bible is chockful of things you need to learn about God and the books inside: timeline, history of each book, questions and answers that you may want to know, dictionary, concordance, reading plan, maps, and many others. I have learned alot from reading it, and better yet, it's New International Version which makes it easy to read for any age! Good for anyone who wants to learn more from reading questions and answers in this one.

Highly recommended,

For this life-long Episcopalian, this study Bible has been very helpful. The NIV translation is easy to read, and the side notes and articles have taught me a lot about what I am reading. There are a lot of interesting historical facts as well as many theological comments from different points of view. Buy it!

Agreed, but with a grain of salt,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
In deed, this is most definitely a very good study Bible, but as the other Lutheran minister (below me) would surely agree, not everything in it is 100% agreeable. I've found a few things that I don't agree with completely, such as issues on Free Will and Sovereignity. Nothing truly serious (I still also give it 5 stars), but remember to take the notes with a grain of salt. The same goes for any study Bible. :) It's a wonderful beginners study Bible, but you might want to move onto a New Oxford Annotated Bible later on. (Another good one is the Concordia Self-study Bible. It's suitable for all Lutherans, not just Missouri Synod, and any other non-Catholic Christian as well.) The New Oxford is my all-time favorite, with the Concordia following along (the Concordia is actually a heavily edited edition of the NIV Study Bible).

Clear and Understandable,
This review is from: Quest Study Bible, New International Version (Paperback)
What I love about this Bible is that it is clear and easy to understand. It gives me side notes to tell me what was going on at the time and other notes to give further detail. I love that it shows me where to look for other things like the passage that I may be studying or reading at the time.
I find it very helpful as growing up with the King James version. I just didn't understand what I read.

I have found this to be the most understandable single Bible that I've ever used. I have not outgrown it in 10 years though I've worn one out. I have purchased several for friends over the last 10 years because it has been such a source of information and comfort to me. Many people who feel themselves becoming drawn to the Bible are not encouraged by the choices they find available. Buying a KJV in paperback at the dollar store, for example, truly gets you the Word of God but the Quest NIV is so much more accessible and understandable. The 6000 or so Q&A in the margins and the dozens of little "articles" are built-in confusion fixers unlike any I've seen. The mini-concordance is extremely helpful, too. The tone of the sidebar questions is also not rigidly dogmatic--many things discussed in the Bible, God seems to leave open-ended and the commentary supplied here conveys that well. I strongly recommend this as a very interesting NIV for anyone interested in reading the Bible, either as a beginner or a more advanced "student". Jerry Svoboda, Rochester, NY
