Enjoyable and charming with a fairy tale feeling., March 30, 2009
This review is from: In Quest Of Theta Magic (Paperback)
STORY BRIEF:
Humans and Thetas live on another planet. Each Theta has one magic ability, for example, Elana has eagle sight (she can see 4 times better than humans). Jana has bat hearing (can hear 5 times better than humans). Dean is a Theta. His sister Genesisa is close to death due to a curse or illness. Dean must marry a Theta woman, have a female child and go on a quest for an object to save his sister. Dean is ugly due to red swellings on his face and body. He is also wealthy. Mrs. Bailey's husband died and left her and their five Theta daughters in desperate need of money. Dean pays a large sum of money to Mrs. Bailey in return for the choice of one of her daughters to marry. The girls fear Dean will abuse the woman he marries. They also believe he will pick Jana, the most beautiful but sickly and weak. Elana goes to Dean and offers herself, willing to take any abuse out of love for her weaker sister.
REVIEWER'S OPINION:
I chuckled several times during this story due to odd events or a character's behavior or dialogue. I was surprised and delighted at the actions and conversations between Elana and Dean when they first met. Most paranormal and fantasy romances have vampires, faeries, witches, etc. with similar talents, habits and needs. This is different. Some of these talents had me blinking my eyes thinking "Oh, this is different." I won't mention the most unusual ones in order to leave some surprise for the reader. One of my favorites was Dean's uses of his ability during sex. This book reminded me of a children's book, easy to read and no need to concentrate. The characters have a fairy tale feeling with simply defined good and bad guys. Some readers may find this lacking depth, others may find this charming and enjoyable. It's a light style of writing. Some of the phrases are different from what I'm used to. This might be due to the author being from Australia and bringing a different feel to the language. This book is not for children because there are some sex scenes. The sexual language is mild, yet charming, for example, her secret garden. The book is also shorter than most romance novels.

A GREAT read!!, April 4, 2009
This review is from: In Quest Of Theta Magic (Paperback)
To fulfill his dead mother's prophecy, Dean Williams has to find and marry a woman that possesses Theta Magic who will give birth to a baby girl that can save his dying sisters life. Since his sister was the first woman born to the Williams family in 100 years he narrows his search down to a family of five girls that all posses Theta Magic in order to improve his odds.
When Mrs. Bailey learns that Dean is willing to pay handsomely for a wife she has no qualms offering up all five of her daughters for the interview and selection process. That is until she sees Dean in person. Upon seeing that Dean is horribly ugly she tries to shield her most beautiful daughter, Lara from him and offers up Elana, the smart daughter. To her relief Dean chooses Elana but for his own reasoning not hers. Within days of the marriage Elana and Lara are caught up in treachery and betrayal. Will she be able to help Dean save his sister and her own before it's too late?
This book was so good I sped through it in one sitting. The futuristic story was unique and intriguing with great characters. I enjoyed the banter between Dean and Elana. It was witty and natural making the whole story seem genuine and it led to some pretty steamy love scenes.
The book has a great epilogue which surprised me. I thought that the storyline could be carried over into a Theta Magic series but the epilogue wraps everything up without leaving the type of cliff hangers that lead to more books. Hopefully I'm wrong and more books filled with these characters are in the works. Highly recommended for fantasy readers.

"A sumptuous, erotic fantasy novel with a twist!", April 26, 2010
This review is from: In Quest Of Theta Magic (Paperback)
Dean Williams is in need of a wife and not just any old wife will do; she must be versed in the ancient Theta crafts and help him with his quest. Elana Bailey takes matters into her own hands and plans to somehow spare her beautiful but frail sister from having to marry the ugly, brutish man named Dean. One of the first things that struck me about this story was how human and likable the characters were despite the fantasy elements. It is always a pleasure to pick up a book that grabs a reader's attention immediately. The characters were very unique and with Dean in particular, I was taken aback when I realized how much I liked him. Throughout the story there are contrasts of good & evil, beauty & the beast and it had the requisite simmering romance that makes one blush with the explicit sensuality. So many times I've found that erotic stories are big on "skin" and leave a lot to be desired when it comes to plot and story development. You can imagine my delight as I read this story and I enjoyed every single page! I have to commend Enid Wilson on creating this distinctive storybook world and thank her for keeping me thoroughly entertained. I look forward to reading more books by this author and I very highly recommend that you pick up a copy of In Quest of Theta Magic for yourself or a friend!!
