4.0 out of 5 stars Civil rights and music are twin threads in this book., August 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Question of Harmony (Hardcover)
A girl discovers her true vocation as a musician as she forms part of a trio one summer. The civil rights thread in this book seems a little forced and dated, but the discovery of music is treated in a marevlous way. If you liked The Mozart Season you will want to try this book. The sequel about the heroine's experiences at music camp is even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book!, August 22, 2001

This review is from: Question of Harmony (Hardcover)
I love this book so much! The characters are all so rich and wonderfully textured. While some aspects of the racism discussed in the book seem dated now, many do not, and I think the book is realistic for the times. The dynamics of the young people, the discussions of music, and a full cast of supporting characters make this book a joy to re-read.

And I agree with the other reviewer -- the sequel ("White in the Moon") is also terrific!
