I really like this book, February 17, 2009
I really liked this book. It answered all of my questions and even included things that I never thought about before. It is really clear and helpful and I feel a lot more informed now about anorexia. I like the question and answer format and it is packed with information.
The book is divided into sections, each with answers to questions. The sections are Overview of anorexia nervosa; Weight loss and other warning signs; Risk factors; Special Considerations; Exercise and Athletes; Body Image Concerns; Support for Loved Ones; Weight Restoration, nutrition and healthy eating; Treatment and recovery; Prevention and advocacy.
Each section was very helpful and informative.

Excellent resource, February 4, 2009
Having gone through anorexia myself, I have read nearly every book on the subject that I could find over the past 20 years. This book held my interest to the end and I learned aspects about the disorder that I never knew or considered. Dr. Shepphird addresses the key questions about anorexia with a mix of sound, scientific objectivity and real compassion. Here is someone who really understands, and bridges the shame and embarrassment factors so common in eating disorders. These are exactly the questions that would have been of most help to me when I was struggling in the disease. This book provides understanding and hope to those who suffer, as well as guidance, direction, and resources for recovery.
