One out of four men between age 50 and 60 experiences erectile dysfunction (ED). And for men with hypertension or diabetes, approximately 2 out of 3 experience ED. The unreliability of this aspect of sexual functioning is understandably viewed as a loss. But it can also be an opportunity to expand one's vocabulary of love and intimacy.

This book is very helpful in explaining the causes and treatment options. However, there is little or no discussion, here or in similar books, of the possibility that one can enjoy love and intimacy and feel good about oneself, even if one's ED cannot be "cured" or ameliorated. Discussing that aspect -- making peace with one's ED -- seems to be largely a taboo topic for both men and women.
