This book gives useful hints about planning a wedding and some of the issues that newly married couples will face. To present this book however as Catholic marriage prep is very misleading for the book at times contridicts approved Church teaching. There are other more reliable sources to read if you want to know what Catholic marriage prep is all about.

Of the twenty volumes of the "101 Q&A" series of books, "101 Questions and Answers on Catholic Marriage Preparation" deals with, by far, the most specific topic. This makes the fact that it is the shortest volume (72 pages) understandable and the fact that it is the first volume with more than one author (Rebecca Nappi and Daniel Kendall, SJ) ironic.

"101 Questions and Answers on Catholic Marriage Preparation" is a sastisfactory overview of what goes into marriage prep in the Catholic Church. The book deals with various issues such as what goes into a wedding and, far more importantly, everything that comes after the weddings. Although the book is very helpful and covers a lot of issues it does have its drawbacks. Getting back to the books length (or lack thereof), many of the responses are so brief as to leave the reader wanting, the most obvious example being Q70, in which the question is two sentences and the answer is one. Also, many responses seem to be vague and wishy-washy as if the authors were evading their own questions.

As to the previous review by Michael Neugent (and the thirteen people who found the review "helpful") and his claim that this book goes against "approved Catholic teaching," I wish Mr. Neugent would've cited which teachings he's referring to. I scoured my copy of the Catechism and I do not know what he is talking about, although I do concede that the answer to Q99 is so poorly phrased as to be irresponsibly misleading. I would caution all reviewers against making such naked assertions.
