This second edition of the popular guide 501 Questions Every Bartender Should Know How to Answer has been re-titled and the content expanded to twice the questions and answers. It’s the best collection of trivial bar information ever compiled and includes great extra tests like matching beer names with their country of origin or matching liquor brand names with their corresponding spirit. The subject matter also goes beyond fun. Much of the material was originally written for and has been used in training all over the country through Plotkin’s on-premise consulting business, training seminars, and the many articles he’s written over the last twenty five years. A great example: Question #319. What will club soda poured into an empty glass reveal about the glass? Answer: The carbon dioxide present in the club soda will form a stream of bubbles wherever the inside of the glass is oily or dirty. I purchased this book to be a fun distraction at my bar. Instead of my preconcieved notions of it actually being a book, it turned out to be nothing but obscure questions that you have to flip to the back to find the answers in a key. I was very disappointed in the lack of humorous or necessary information, and would recommend this if only you were to need questions to quiz bartending school MENSA hybrids... and then, only if you are really bored and anal retentive.
