This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Things this tape IS NOT:1. Cosmetically appealing. 2. Very exciting. 3. Hard on back/knees/hips. 4. Easy. Things this tape IS: 1. Simply the best for shrinking hips/saddle bags. 2. Quick and narrated well so that you do the exercises correctly the first time/and every time. 3. A classic hip/bun routine that really shapes you up FAST. 4. Really, really hard. After 11 years of impact aerobics and weight training I just plain got sick of having to watch every morsel of food that went into my mouth and work out 5-6 times weekly just to maintain a body that had become bulky from weight training and had sore knees. What I really craved was a long, lean dancer's body. I remembered Callanetics from back in the 80s (when I was in high school) and decided to give it a try. Wow! I am so glad I did! I now do T-tapp workouts for my aerobic work and Callanetics for my strenghth training. I am so delighted with the results. Anyone who is sick of the bulky-looking muscles you get from weight training will love the long, lean look that Callanetics will give you. This workout is MAXIMUM tough, but in 20 mn a day done 3-4X a week you will definitely see results in the hip/butt area with this workout.

"Quick " is Right!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There is no excuse not to do this tape! The actual workout time is about 16 minutes, with a warm-up,neck roll & an ending stretch. This moves on this tape are the same as on Super Callanetics. (All the hips & behind moves, no pelvic circles or standing leg work). However she does provide suggestions on how to modify as well as doing the moves properly. Most of this is done on the floor. I think this tape as well as the other Quick tapes are good for those days when you only have time to work on that one trouble spot, if not just do the 1 hour tape 2 times a week.

I can't say enough good things about this!,

This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I first discovered this tape when I was a freshman in high school, and 10 years later it's still the one I come back to when I want dramatic results quickly. If it isn't painful and your muscles don't shake the first several times you do it, you're not doing it right! You will absolutely feel it in your outer thighs for a few days afterwards, and you can actually see results within a few sessions. I highly, higly recommend this; once you know the routine, you can just turn the volume down and play the stereo if the music on the tape bores you. This (and all the other Callanetics tapes) will give you the long & lean look--similar to the look you get from Pilates, but the results are even faster with Callanetics. Not really for weight loss; just for toning. But, use this in rotation with aerobics and you will be in excellent shape in a very short period of time.

I recently began doing the callanetics, hips and behind video and i love it. At first i was skeptical but after just a few times you notice a huge difference. I have been trying to loose those few extra inches around my hips and butt and i have to say this video did the trick! Just try it and you will be amazed at how fast it tones and shapes your body.

HOT! HOT! HOT!,

I've been working with the Callanetics tapes since May 2000 and have been amazed at the results! I'm a professional actress in my 30s and having a terrific figure is essential. The 20-year-old girls in my acting class are totally envious! I would like to add that JuliaElizabeth may not have been doing the exercises correctly and that's why she hasn't seen the desired results. I can work out for an hour and not even break a sweat, but it invigorates me so I can put in a 16-hour day, five days a week. It's an awesome workout and I would recommend Callanetics for men and women of all ages. Consistency is the key to success!

Oh, Juliaelizabeth!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I just had to reply to Juliaelizabeth's review even though it's over a year old!She states that Callanetics is for old people not youngsters like herself. That is simply NOT correct. When I first "discovered" Callanetics I was 23, exactly her age when she reviewed the video, and I had just had my second baby. I had gained a lot of weight while I was pregnant and was in very bad shape. I probably weighed 160 on my 5'3" frame. I just happened across the video and decided to give it a try. My husband was on deployment when I had the baby and he wasn't going to be home until she was four months old. When she was 3 months old I started using the original Callanetics tape. I had had a c-section so my stomach muscles were even more weak than the average person. I did the tape 5 - 6 times a week (I only had 2 small kids so I had the time then!). That's all I did--no Aerobics, no walking, no jogging. I did not diet at all though I was breastfeeding, which burns a lot of calories. By the time my dear hubby came home I was a new woman! I was down to a size 7 and actually looked MUCH better than I did even in high school. I was always a size 5 but very jiggly one!! I was now a size bigger (when you have a baby your bones spread--you can't change that.) but much tighter and more toned. I also weighed more than I did in highschool but looked like I weighed much less. I had muscles I never even knew I had and not big, bulky ones like you get from weight lifting but long, beautiful, feminine ones. My husband was SHOCKED. He was expecting to see a fat, frumpy wife as I wasn't even in great shape before I got pregnant. He was very pleasantly surprised. Sadly, with a hectic lifestyle I have yo-yoed back and forth between being fit and being fat. After my 3rd baby I did Callanetics and got pretty fit but I have a hard time staying with any program. I go at it like crazy for a while and then quit. I now have 5 kids, whom I homeschool, and time is a precious and rare commodity. BUT I am very fat and I am sick of being that way. I also want to have another baby but I know that I'm in no shape to do it and that if I get pregnant now I will be past the point of no return by the time I deliver. So I am going to try to start getting in shape and eating better again. I want to do Callanetics and would love to do the one hour Super Callanetics program---it is the best. But I know it's unreasonable to think that I can workout for an hour a day. That's why I think AM/PM will be perfect. I can split it up into shorter sessions and if I only have time some days to do one or the other (am or pm) then that's better than nothing. I'm also going to try to walk as much as I can and eat better. I know if I can stick to it it will work. I KNOW Callanetics works. I would never do any other program and I've tried several. I have two left feet and I cannot do aerobics at all because of this, plus I feel silly doing them, even in my own livingroom, and I find those type videos loud and irritating. Callanetics may seem boring but looks are DEFINITELY deceiving in this case. I don't know how many times Juliaelizabeth actually used the tape, if at all, but I can tell you that anyone who wants to try it should do it as close to properly as possible (At first it's impossible to do some of them exactly as intended because they're very hard, but keep going and you get better each time.) and you should do the entire tape at least 5 times, preferably 10 before you give up. If you do it right you'll feel results after one time and see them after 2 or 3. Really.

Calanetics kicks and much more!,
By
This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Calanetics is truly the best deep muscle workout you can do. My mother did the original Calanetics every OTHER day, didn't change a thing about her food intake, and lost 65 lbs. in 6 months...for REAL! Her secret was she did each of the different parts when she could, throughout the day...not all at once! She was lean, hard muscled (for the first time in her life!) and had the energy of a teen. If you are severely over weight, you can actually DO this...and if you are thin and want to change the SHAPE of your body...this is IT! In some ways this workout gets harder as you get stronger, absolutaly. This grows with your ability, and you'll never outgrow it. You are sore the next day, but never in agony...you'll never injure yourself. It's the "good" sore. Make sure you skip every other day so that your muscles can catch up and reshape! VERY IMPORTANT!

The BEST!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been doing a variety of Callan Pinckney's videos since 1983, plus used her first book for additional instruction. I've always been active (biking, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing) and I've done many different styles of toning exercises, including weight training. Callanetics has done for me exactly what was promised. Also, I have learned to relax in any situation and my bi-monthly stress-related migraine headaches have ceased completely. I never suffered a pulled muscle or felt beat up after my other exercise sessions since doing Callanetics. It was originally designed for people with knee and back problems and even though I have 3 surgically repaired ligaments in my right knee, there was never a problem doing the Callanetics. The basic 1 hour program is the best, but I've found almost equal success with the A.M & P.M. and the Quick Callanetics. Buy one; it will be the best investment you've ever made in yourself. By the way, I began Callanetics when I was 23 and I'm 41 now.

My mom first turned me on to this video when I was 14. I read the box cover to her and exclaimed "10 years younger in 10 hours, I'll look 4". But seriously I've found that after high school I worked and went to school full time so there was no time for exercising. Three years later I looked at my backside in the mirror and gasped. It had to go. I couldn't fit into my winter jeans or summer shorts. My womanly hips had appeared and I had donuts and pastry dimples. Remembering this wonderful video I have begun a workout schedule of biking and outdoor climbing once a week with Callanetics 3 times a week and already after three weeks I can see such a difference that I know I'm only hours away from my goal.I've heard people say it's too hard and that they don't see results. 1)They need to keep trying. It takes a while to understand what it means to "round" or relax certain muscles to get the best stretch. 2)People that jerk or get frustrated have to understand that they are being too impatient and should do fewer reps and the less difficult version to build up to the point were they don't jerk. Thank you Callan Pinckney for this video. By the way there is no substitute for this workout. I've tried others and none have worked as quickly for me.

Great way to focus on tough toning areas in only 20 minutes,
This review is from: Quick Callanetics: Hips And Behind [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this short workout, instructor Callan Pinckney expands on the hips and behind exercises included in her original Callanetics video. This is a very different form of exercise, as the movements are small and precise but performed for a high number of repetitions (100 of each here). This video begins with two warmup stretches, one for the entire body and one for the neck. Then it's on to the floor for seated work targeted on the hips and buttocks. While holding onto a ballet barre or the back of a chair, you bend one leg forward and the other to the side; you then gently pulse the leg back and forth 100 times. Each exercise is performed with both a bent and then a straight leg on both sides of the body; following this, the entire series is repeated while kneeling. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of the exercises at first, as you really have to focus on tilting your hipbone downward while simultaneously curving your pelvis forward (which is important for protecting your back). The workout ends with a lying stretch to relax your leg, hip, buttock, and back muscles. Although it may take a little while to get used to these unique exercises, once you master the form, you can really feel the moves targeting exactly where they are supposed to--the hips and behind. Quick Callanetics is a great way to achieve amazing results in a short amount of time for these hard to tone areas. |
